Turkey week trip
Stayed at Tuscany, Orleans, and Texas Station on offers for free rooms
from 11-19 thru 11-25.
Played only where we were staying (we did not play at the property or
sister properties before we were registered in them or after we
checked out of them)or elsewhere with the exception of Orleans, which
we had such a great time at, we went back there on our last day, prior
to going to the airport, after having moved to TS for the last night
of our trip.
My darling bride plays nickle BJ, I play VP, craps, and BJ in that
order. I will admit I played one slot at Orleans in a moment of
weakness for $20 that returned all of 6 quarters and convinced me that
slots are not the way to go.
What is important, however, is the conversation I had with one of
Orleans' slot hosts, where I was desperately trying not to move to TS
for the last night.
It didn't work as she told me that I was B player. I was putting in
about 4K per day coin-in on VP. That makes sense, as I play about 500
hands per hour on .25 machines.
She told me that Coast looks for $45M dollars in per 90 day period to
be rated as an A player. This does not count table play as far as I
can tell. Both of those systems are separate.
My bride did get numerous buffet and coffee shop comps from her play.
She spent as much time playing BJ as I did playing VP. My craps play
generated a decent profit and a nice dinner comp to The Loft.
Upon our return we have received another offer from Tuscany for free
rooms and free slot play and a Super Bowl offer from Texas Station for
two free nights, Super Bowl party and a "valuable" gift. I guess TS
wants us back. I struggled there to find playable games with the
exception of the Optimum play machines in front of Quizno's.
I really enjoyed quarter 10/7 DB bartops at Tuscany and Orleans.
Tuscany's have since been removed from what I've sadly read. Even
though I'm a "flea," I can't stand playing short pay machines anymore.
We did play 10/7 DB at Wynn on the four good machines while there and
enjoyed the property immensely. We did not earn the 50 points for the
free buffets, but the bingo game was fun and the slant-top's seats
were the most comfortable I've ever encountered. I was also agog at
the circular escalator. That was really cool.
We also visited Silverton, El Cortez, Nevada Palace, Fiesta Henderson,
Binion's, and the Fremont during our stay.
I had 4 or 5 sets of quad Aces on DB at Tuscany, Fiesta, and Orleans
plus a couple of SF's, lots of quads, and no royals during the trip.
7 days and 6 nights cost us airfare and a rental car with a $200
combined win for all gambling, including tips.
A most enjoyable trip -- the only "show" we attended was the Bob
Dancer seminar on casino comps at FH. I now appreciate why all of the
discourse on penalty cards really does matter at his level of play.
As a B player, my error rate of less than 1% does not matter to me.
Even though I use WinPoker to practice and use Skip's strategy cards
to the best of my ability, the best thing I could do to maximize my EV
is to tip less and have fewer cocktails. And guess what? I enjoy my
cocktails and feel good that when I leave a BJ or craps table most
times, the dealers have appreciated that I tried to pay my way.
I find it very interesting that FH has imposed limits on Bingo cards
that can be purchased with player's club points after listening to
BD's discourse. He really does employ any edge that works and I
salute him for that.
