This similar experience is from a different VP newsgroup posted
9/4/2003. Sams Town took an active interest in getting these peoples
money back and gave them the benefit of doubt. The Tuscany did nothing -
and could care less. If I were you, I'd write to the President of
Tuscany and explain why you ( rightly so ) are never going back there.
"Long time listener, first time caller.
We had an interesting experience at Sam's Town Sunday (6X Point Day).
After finishing a DW session at the TITO machines, my wife got her
ticket for $1010 (RF), but I failed to press my button to get my $250
ticket (Dumb). After a stop at the rest rooms, we went to the other
side of the casino to play Multi-strike. When we got there, I
discovered I only had one ticket, so we rushed back to the DW machines
on the off chance that no one else had taken the ticket. The machine
was vacant, credits were zero and the display showed the last cash out
was for $50. I asked one of the women who was at a different machine if
anyone had played at my machine since I left. She pointed to a man
(later dubbed Ticket Taker or TT) sitting next to her, so I asked him if
he'd cashed my ticket. He pulled out a ticket with a face value of 50
cents and said it was the only ticket he'd cashed that day. Since the
machine he'd just left had a $50 cash out displayed, it appeared TT was
being les! s than forthcoming. In the meantime, my wife had gotten a
slot supervisor (Julie) and a Security Guard to come over. After I
explained my stupidity, Julie checked the screen that showed all the
tickets that had been dispensed. The last one was $50 and the next to
last was $250. She copied down the serial number for the $250 ticket
and literally ran to the Cashier's Cage. TT left about the same time.
When she came back, she said the ticket had not been cashed and said it
was flagged in the system. In other words, when the ticket is presented
a note pops up on the screen to call a supervisor. She then escorted us
to the cage and paid us the $250. (Note to Jean---We tipped her $30).
As we were walking back to MS, we saw TT walking away from a different
Cashier's Cage and putting money in his billfold. We followed him and
watched him sit at another machine and begin playing (Dumber). We
walked back toward the DW area and met Julie on the way. We asked her
to check to see ! if the $250 ticket had just been cashed. She did;
it had. The Cashier apparently ignored or disregarded the flag.
Although we had our money, we have a distaste for thieves and liars, so
we led Julie to TT. She called a Security Supervisor. We offered to
hang around but he didn't think that was a good idea. We told him where
we would be if he needed more information. He came over later and said
TT denied everything at first, but after some coaxing, admitted to
taking the ticket and handed over the money. We asked if any further
action was being taken against him and he said no (Sam's choice, not
his). He also informed us that taking a ticket was a criminal act and
that TT could have (should have) been arrested."

I was foolish and left a ticket for 110.50 on a machine at Tuscany. A
"lady" who saw me leave and acted like she was checking the pay tables
put in a 20 and cashed out as soon as I left. She then sat at the bank
of machines just behind where I had been sitting. She admitted to me
that she put in a 20 but said that she "hit something" right away.
Sure, and she cashed out for exactly 130.50.
Anyway, security refused to do anything. They wouldn't even talk to the
woman. And they kept me busy saying they were checking and doing stuff
like standing behind the machine I had been on and reporting on the
radio that that was the machine. They asked for my player card and
name. But ignored the woman playing with her card. It seems to me that
I was kept "busy" while the woman played the ticket down to the last 2
coin play of the 50 cents. As soon as the woman left, they showed up to
tell me there was no proof.
I'm thinking I was kept busy so that I wouldn't call Metro. Any
comments?
