Tuscany Hotel - looong

Sometimes I get the feeling that I'm the only board member who ever stays
here as I never see anything about the hotel. For out-of-towners, this place is
worth considering due to its location & the comparative lack of traffic.

I've been staying here off & on about a month or two after the hotel opened.
Thought it would get run down quickly like Az Charlies East & Terribles
after it's renovation of the old Continental. Places get run down due to poor
upkeep and/or use of cheap materials & fixtures.

For some reason, the rooms are aging well. It's probably the clientele as
there's probably more families compared to the sore losers that ACE & Terribles
get. Also the other 2 get a lot more customers so there's a lot less traffic
at Tuscany. Thinking back on it, it's probably a good thing the Ellis
Island/Tuscany deal fell through otherwise this might be as rundown as ACE.

One of the charms of staying here is that the living quarters are completely
separate from the casino & you can drive up close to your roon in some
cases. It's nicely landscaped with 2 pools -- one in back of the admin bldg with a
sort of double-kidney design & a plain rectangular pool next to the fitness
room. There are 17 buildings, 15 of which are living quarters. It's faintly
reminiscent of the layout of Alexis Park except there's no Hard Rock
catty-corner from it. In fact, it's kind of isolated from other casinos if you can
call being a block away isolated. To the east on Flamingo are Key Largo,
Terribles & Hard Rock to the SE. To the west on Flamingo is Bally's & Barbary Coast
& Las Vegas Boulevard.

The room is about 500 sq ft (20 X 25) with a small sink, fridge & cupboards.
Going counterclockwise around my room from the sink, round dining table with
4 chairs, sofa, easy chair, coffee table, writing table (all against one
wall), TV on top of an armoire (next wall), king bed with 2 nightstands & closet
(next wall), then finally the bathroom, entryway & fridge, sink & cupboards
(last wall).

Aside from prior experience, what prompted me to stay here was the mailers
that I've gotten off of minimal play (probably about $2k/day average). Recently
received 2 mailers, one for May-June & another for July-Aug. Each month had
2 free nights with restriction of 5 days between usage of offers + $25 free
play. When I booked it, asked if I could do a back-to-back in spite of
restrictions. They said I could which is the advantage of staying someplace that
isn't crowded. I called in to tell them I was going to arrive after midnight,
actually showing up after 3 am. Due to a mental mixup on arrival dates, I was
supposed to arrive that afternoon so I was about 12 hrs early. They checked
me in without adding an additional day!

Re getting in & out, it's not crowded like most casinos. No parking garage
just a lot of flat-top.

When you get tired of the Strip & want some peace & quiet, try Tuscany.

I hadn't heard that the deal fell through - I thought it was still on for September. Anyone with current rumors???

Casino Exec at which hotel, may I ask? Glad to hear the deal fell
through, personally.
Means I can keep getting excellent bounce-back for minimal play,
without the EI
interfering.

Re: room upkeep (from original message) - I think that the rooms are
aging well for all of
the reasons mentioned, as well as the fact that they get a heavy
convention-going crowd,
with businesses renting blocks of rooms for employees. Rarely do I
go there without
seeing groups of people with their lanyards on. I hope that the
convention traffic keeps it
open, as it otherwise seems pretty slow from the gaming perspective.
Maybe it's the fact
that I always go mid-week?

I, too, enjoy the Tuscany, though I've never stayed in the hotel. It
deserves more of the
traffic from the Strip, with the "riff-raff" patronizing the
more-suitable Key Largo and Ellis
Island nearby.

in September. High rise condos going up there. There is a sales
office setup and they have already begun selling units for this
property.

He also states EI will NOT be relocating to Tuscany per Tuscany
mgmt.....

We have stayed at the Tuscany and it was a very nice place to stay. The only thing I found odd was the suites had kitchens but no pots and pans and no dishes which makes cooking there impossible.

Hmm, are you sure? The Town Casino across the street from the EI closed the other day,
for the specific purpose of putting up highrises. I can't see two of them across the street
like that, and where would their brewery go? The EI is the one brewery for all of their bars.

Then again, I'm sick of all the prostitues and drug dealers I have to walk past in the
parking lot alone, and I really don't like the EI in general. So, ta-ta!

I'm just passing along information that I received.

For what it's worth, recently this same source reported to me
Barley's was planning on closing their table games about a week
before the information hit went public. He also told me about the $1
FPDW at the Fiesta a couple days ago.

Could this information end up being wrong? Anything is possible, but
I have never received any inaccurate information from him in the past.

for the specific purpose of putting up highrises. I can't see two

of them across the street

like that, and where would their brewery go? The EI is the one

brewery for all of their bars.

stating they are 'not going anywhere.' This would seem to confirm the
other rumors that the Tuscany deal is off.

The luxury condos going up in that area will be called the 'Platinum
Club.' After researching this closer, my source reports that the
condos will be put up on the west (not east) side of Koval. This
would mean EI stays.

I've been told EI is on a lease that expires in September. It is
uncertain whether they have extended their lease.

The plot thickens.... <g>
