First, I'd like to say hello to all on this board. I have withdrawn
voluntarily from vpmail because Skip Hughes vehemently disagreed
with me when I opined that posting of good plays on that and other
boards was a major factor in their (sometimes immediately afterwards)
demise; he characterized my opinions as "rants" and "ravings" and
dismissed my suggestions as not being worthy of discussion. I then
called him on what I thought was his obvious bias; that to admit
that VP in Vegas was getting rapidly worse would be to obviate the
purpose of his VP pages. Things went downhill from there. Since this
board has no self-interested "big chief" and head censor, I thought
this might be the proper place to exchange information. Time will
tell, however.
The Tuscany indeed has several fullpay machines. There is ten-nickel
and ten-quarter FPDW; it was impossible to get a seat at that bank
Friday night from about 7 PM on, and it was crammed with pros (I
observed the accuracy and speed of their play). The 10/7 DB and 10/6
DDB, available in .50 and 1.00 denoms, were curiously untouched,
although that might be explained by the fact that these machines
only return breakeven or a tiny fraction better with optimal play.
There is a 2-pair Joker machine bank which is ERRONEOUSLY labeled
100% return.
Food in the coffee shop was excellent, and the help in the casino
overall was nervous, inexperienced, but friendly.
Palms: no downgrading of inventory has occured. It is worthwhile to
play $1 NSUD in the high-limit room as this gets you $150 in
bounceback cash (I don't know the play threshold) per month, plus
the option of redeeming those points earned in the hi-limit room for
cash (albeit at a reduced rate).
Orleans/Gold Coast/Suncoast: The Suncoast has completed the
destruction of FPDW. Orleans is being more gradual about it, but the
sphincter has tightened for comps. The top mailer now only goes out
for coin-in of $80K/month (!). No discretionary comps for less than
$30K/month action. This restricts "over and above" comps to those
who play .25 denoms at least seven hours a week, consistently. If
you are spending ANY of your free time other than at a specific
Coast casino, kiss your comps goodbye....
Get out and play those FPDW machines that are left, folks, because
in six months there won't BE any.

Sorry, this is simply not true. With only three months of around 10K/month I was comped for dinner for 3 at Canal Street last night. Obviously, this is not something to expect regularly but prior to the past three months I only gave a couple of K / mo.
Additionally, I think we need to support FPDW at GC and Orleans. Even slowed down, given the cash back and occasional comps they are still very good plays for the quarter player. Last night at Orleans they were empty (except for the painfully slow slant-tops). If they only get a little play anyway, going to NSUD won't hurt.
I think we should continue to give play at the other Coasts unless they remove the FPDW's there and then we should walk and let them know why. Although the hosts are afraid that this will spread to their properties, there is no sign (yet) of removal.
