Is it difficult to get rooms at the Sheraton in June? Would you
recommend staying and playing there? I like $1 double bonus and $0.25
& $1 deuces wild. Has anyone been there recently?
Thanks,

Tunica Sheraton Casino
Hi TogaRoyal,
I probably can't be much help but I will try to share what little info I have with you.
I have never stayed at the Sheraton but have friends who stay there. I'm told the rooms are nice.....even the standard rooms. Actually, they say the Sheraton rooms are much nicer than those at the Horseshoe or the Grand. The Sheraton is just right next door to the Horseshoe. It's very little effort or walking involved to go from one to the other.
To the very best of my knowledge, there are no full pay deuces wild available in Tunica....not at any denomination ! Maybe someone out there will correct me if I'm wrong. I can't comment on the $1 DB because I really don't know.
Normally, it is not too difficult to get rooms in Tunica unless some special event is going on. However, for weekend reservation , I'd highly recommend as much advance planning as possible to play it safe. Having a Harrah's player card will probably make a big difference also. Friday and Saturday night reservations at the Horseshoe are near impossible unless you are an established player.
Hope this helps.

They have the best standard rooms that I've ever stayed in. Beautiful, with jacuzzi in between bedroom and bathroom!

TogaRoyal,
You are very welcome. Sorry that I can't tell you more about the Sheraton but I always stay at the Grand or Horseshoe. I should probably give the Sheraton a try sometime though.
Hope you have a fun and lucky trip.
Take care,
Nita

The rooms at the Sheraton appear very nice but they're in
desperate need of a refurb. Grouting in the tile areas of most
showers is disgusting and the marble is cracked throughout most
rooms. Numerous other detail upkeep issues abound. The beds were
recently replaced and are very comfortable.

How does the strategy differ in FPDW vs APDW?

It's been a while since I've stayed there -- too long to suit me, in fact.
When I did stay there, it was super nice for me, a solo traveler. It
would also be very nice for staying with your significant other. If
you're with someone else, you may have an issue with the bath/jacuzzi,
because it is located "out in the open" -- between the main part of
the room and the bathroom. The upshot is that it's great if your alone
or with someone you don't mind seeing naked (or better yet, actually
like to see naked). Otherwise, one person might have to go elsewhere
while the other bathes.
I've read other reports that say that the rooms are in need of some
remodeling, that they're a bit frayed around the edges. That's a
shame, because the Sheraton rooms were once the nicest in Tunica.
(OTOH, their VP is generally the best in town, and has been for a while.)
Having said that, the rooms are very well appointed. The jacuzzi is
really nice. The hotel is a bit on the small side for Tunica, with
only 134 rooms. Getting one during the week is fairly easy (meeting
notwithstanding), but on weekends it's next to impossible for average
folks -- their website said that weekend were sold out until
mid-April, then they went for $419!! Most weeknights are a $99 rate
without a Total Rewards Card; my card with next to nothing points-wise
got anywhere from $10 to $30 knocked off those rates.
Coincidentally, the Horseshoe next door was cheaper, and the two Grand
hotels cheaper still (the Grand Veranda offered a comp for me, despite
no play there in two years). If the Sheraton doesn't work out, check
the others.
The Sheraton was the first casino where I scored a room comp through a
host, as opposed to a mail offer (which I've had numerous). I had put
in decent play on a half-dollar triple-play DW machine -- 15-9, the
best available then -- and hit ducks for a $500 score. Out of
curiosity (and without a room for the night yet), I sought out a slot
host. He looked at my play, said, "Hey, you've had a good day!
Congratulations! I can get you a room in just a moment." I think I was
prouder of the room comp than the four deuces.
Back then they also gave you a buffet comp when you got cash back,
apparently without a daily limit. Their buffet kinda sucked back then,
especially compared to what's available now there and elsewhere in
Tunica. I used one of those comps just to get a couple of slices of
very good cheesecake for a snack. The waitress looked at me kinda
funny at first, but I said, "They keep giving me these comps, so I may
as well use them for something."
