Truth in Advertising

South Point has ads in Gaming Today, Billboards, etc touting that their points are worth more. What the ads don't show is how much coin in to get these points. Is their claim as to greater value for real or is it comparable to what comes out of the real end of a bull?

They claim that 1000 points = $3 but until one knows how much coin in this takes we are in the dark.

ads: $1 / pt. A true claim

That part is true. What is misleading is the not-stated-in-the-ad
frequency of the multipliers. SP has 2x points once or twice a month and
3x very rarely, while the others have 5x or 6x points regularly ---
although at some places you must divide these rates by 2 or 4 for 100%
games, if those are the ones you play. Smart video poker players add up
the return of the game they're interested in to the relevant slot club
return.

It is fair to say that the best place to play varies depending on what
multiplier and other promotions are in effect on any given day --- in
addition to what stakes and games you play. The place a 25 cent player
finds best is likely very different than the place a $10 player finds
best. It would be unprofitable for a casino to have games + slot club so
that they were ALWAYS the loosest place to play for all denominations.
It would similarly be less profitable than necessary for a player to
always play at the same casino irregardless of what promotion they were
having.
