The first thing the person should do is put in some decent VP. None of the
Trump casino's has anything worth playing. A lot of regular's have moved to
the Borgota.

Now why can't those high priced executives at the Trump co figure THAT out?
All you have to do is fill your casinos with games over 100% that can be
beaten
with knowledgeable play & you'll make a fortune! What a concept.

as long as you don't allow the few good players and teams to control
machines (preventing average players from getting on) you can make
money, because the good players attract lots of average players, the
average players lose money, either due to play mistakes or being
underbankrolled

there is an optimum point of max casino profit, and it's probably
with roughly +1% (*with optimum play*) machines, because they will
get heavy play

if there's only a few machines with say more than +2% they will get
locked up by pros/teams

if all machines are negative (including comps) the play will drop way
down, even the average/poor players will notice that their dollars
don't go as far

if a casino next door has looser games it doesn't take long for all
players good and poor to notice, right now there are too many casinos
and not enough gamblers, casinos simply have to compete

in addition, certain games are difficult to play anyway and this
restricts the universe of accomplished players: double bonus, all
american, 2 pair or better joker

if i were running a casino i'd go with all american, after a year or
so i'd expect to see a profit dropoff as players begin to learn the
game, then i'd switch to something like 2 pair joker ... there are
many tricks that can be employed, such as alternating full pay and
short pay machines next to each other, you pick off people who aren't
aware of paytables that way ... i would definitely make end machines
short pay because people favor them (like an airline isle seat) ...

another good example is quarter full pay deuces, most people don't
know how to play that game or are underbankrolled and when they learn
they generally move on to something with more earning potential

They had a lot more player's when there was some decent VP. Most people cant play perfectly or play slot's and crap's too. They had some machine's with Pick Em, and a lot of the regular's also played keno and AC Joker (OK, my weakness too) <g> so the casino still made money off them.
The Borgota has lots of good machine's, and they still make plenty of dough.
