Ordinarily, I would consider reprinting an e-mail sent to me privately into a public forum a violation of social protocol, but considering the query I thought it might be interesting to reprint it here, in it's entirety:

30,000+ hands.
In one month.
Did you ever consider that you just might have a pathological gambling problem....and that there could be many other far more productive things you can do with your time than being roped in to play by the casinos??
Well gee, "Rob", I guess that you haven't been around much lately, because I played even MORE hands (59139!) in January! By that measure, my pathological problem seems to be waning, eh?
By way of unmerited explanation, most of my play is 3-play, introduced to me by Mr. Thompson on this very board. I was a little nervous at first, but it's actually more fun and the increased volatility hasn't buried me yet.
I suppose I could waste my time watching television (don't own one), following sports (couldn't care less) or playing with my car or doing any of those other things that society deems acceptable for males to do, or even things that society DOESN'T deem acceptable for males to do, but I don't like to do those things. Video poker isn't necessarily my first choice of hobby, but it fits my financial and time constraints better than collecting Faberge eggs or building the Eiffel Tower out of matchsticks. You can calm yourself with the thought that I am in no danger of losing my livelihood to those casinos that "rope me in".
I am also an avid investor and political (or better, "apolitical") theorist, but I am smart enough to leave those discussions off this message board. As someone described me long ago on this message board, I'm just a bored ploppie who enjoys having pretty girls bring me beer.
Anyone else? Judging by the numbers thrown around on this board ("Diamond in a Day" for example), I had no idea that my amount of play could be considered excessive. I should start demanding more comps!
A bien tot!

Well, it was a scary month. Two royals (on consecutive nights, no less) sounds pretty good, but the fact is that it took both of them to rescue the month from being a total disaster:
Hands Played: 30,568
Quads: 46
Straight Flushes: 6 (including three in one hand for a dealt SF at 3-play)
Royals: 2
Win/Loss: +0.46%
I think someone mentioned that there's nothing more boring than someone posting that all of the pragmatists are actually correct. So far, then, I'd say that I'm boring you all to tears. The numbers are very close to what the statisticians would expect. Sorry I haven't exposed the secret machinations of the trilateral commission - yet.
See you in May.
