It just so happened that I downloaded the trial software today, and
used it a bit. The download is huge (280MB), and thge installation
took a long time. It is possible that if I were installing it on a
very recent system, it may have gone on faster, a) because of the
speed, and b) because some plug-ins that had to be loaded my have been
there already.
But it did load successfully, and I have used several games from it,
the regular single line version Jacks or Better, multi-line versions
of Deuces Wild, Joker Poker, etc... Haven't tried Spin Poker, or Super
Times, ...
Apart from the fact that it has several new games, and the graphics
are better (but then, I was used to these graphics, having played
these very same games on VideoPoker.Com site, months ago), I was not
"blown away"! At least on the machine I installed the games, a
~10-year old (ancient in human years) system running Win2K at 800 MHz
(hey, that's slow, but not exactly a snail's pace), the games ran a
bit slower that I cared to see.
The audio associated with the scoring is garish. But so was it on the
VideoPoker.com site. One thing I liked was that the "Analyze the Hand"
window, when brought up, stays on and is updated with each successive
hand automatically. It is on until you decide to close it. It could be
tweaked to show the expected return on the game (single hand, or
multi-hand) rather than the EV for a 5-coin bet. Right now, it shows
the same number, whether you are playing a single hand game, triple or
five, fifty, or 100-play. It would be much easier to compare the EV
with what exactly happened, if the EV shown is multiplied by the
number of hand being played.
While there are all these games, I immediately noticed the absence of
a game that I have been playing the most; the Double Joker Poker. And
then I noticed that another game (don't know how popular it is), the
Five Joker Poker isn't there either. While it is possible that this is
so, becaus ethis is a trial version, I don't think that is the case. I
don't think there is any difference between this trial version that
becomes inoperative in ten days (rather a very short time) and the
paid-up version.
I may post some more comments as I use the software a little bit more
during the next nine days.

Hi group,
Has anyone else downloaded the trial software and not been able to use
it? I got a 'Strong name validation failed for assembly, etc' after
what appeared a successful download. I did post a message to the
website and look for solutions on the web but since it is a trial
download and I am losing hours not being able to play, the problem will
not be resolved before my time runs out. I will not, of course, be
able to unlock the download if I choose to purchase and I will not
purchase if I cannot at least give it a try like anyone else can.
Wondering if I will get the same result if I purchase the CD instead.
Apprehensive about it right now.
