For several years and abt a dozen trips I was Gold card suite ect player at
Sam's av abt 15K/day. Like most everyone else my offers in the last year or
so were 3 nites Sun-Thurs and $50 food. Had not been there in abt 18 months,
but always liked Sam's and had a couple of nites free and decided to give
them a try.
Called mkt and asked what they could do for me. She offered me 3 nites
anytime and a silver card(no Billy Bobs or Italian). When I went to check in
there was no silver card. The desk clerk called someone who said I was lucky
to get the room as I was only entitled to casino rate and that was that.
Luckily I had brought my $50 food offer with me and was able to use that. It
worked out fine anyway as I was alone and had a $20 meal at W&J and a $30
meal at BB. Spent $10 of my own for bkfst and ice cream. No big deal but
goes agains m,y policy of never spending a cent in a casino I'm staying at.
The next day after putting over 8000 points on my card I had a chat with a
host to try and find out just where I now stand with Sam's. I may as well of
gone and hit my head against the wall . The conversation went something like
this: You have good coin in but we don't go by that any more. What do you go
by? Well it's kind of hard to explain. Charge to your room. Call a host
before you come out again. What abt my past play? Sorry . Ican't access
that. Doesn't count for anything. You have to start anew under the new
system. How do I know how I'm doing? Charge to your room, talk to a host
before you leave. So it doesn't matter how many points I put on? There are
other criteria? Oh no. Play as much as you can. It's kind of hard to
explain. It certainly is.
Afer that I kind of lost interest but put 10K points on just to see what the
offers are( put 3K points on wifes card for contrast).
I did have the last laugh though as I hait a 4K royal on a $1 db.

I have to add my "Amen!" to that, nudge ... although I might drop the
"bastard" part. If I really thought they were bastards then I
wouldn't have any desire to play there and couldn't give a damn at
that point whether other people do.
If they put things back "right", there'll still be a very warm spot in
my heart for Coast Casinos. It's my humble opinion that the opening
of Suncoast changed the LV scene amazingly from a LV visitor's
perspective. And god bless Barbary Coast!
That said, so long as players keep the machine seats from cooling off
there's not the slightest chance of a message being sent to Coast that
the most recent changes are unacceptable. (The message that's sent
instead is that they're "tolerable".)
As much as it will break our hearts (and trust me when I say we're
talking MASSIVE dissapointment), we won't be stepping over the Barbary
Coast threshold when we're in town next week. And C.C. hasn't even
extended the recent slaughter there yet ...

Did you hear this from someone who had observed that they were
removed or did it come from of a freind of a freind etc. who saw it?
If true this is bad news. If it is unconfirmed rumor that is also bad
news as we visitors need accurate information when planning a trip.

to mid week room comps (with no change in play). As time went on I
started getting silver card offers but I cut my play in half and
ever since I have been getting offers for 3 nights any day of the
week plus some sort of perk ($50 in food, $90 at Billy Bobs, $40 in
cash etc.)
Like the host you spoke to said, they don't use coin in any more at
Sam's. They use a theoretial loss system that takes your average
bet, and length of play. They also take machine type into
consideration. I was told a by my host on my last trip there that in
a system like this you will get less in comps playing a game like
10/7 DB or FPDW than you will get by playing slots or short pay crap
like 6/5 jacks.
With this said I've only stayed and played at Sam's Town 1 time in
the last 2 1/2 years for 3 days. I think back to the days of when I
used to stay there a week at a time 3 times a year.
I've also continued to get a monthly mailer even though I haven't
been there since December of 2001.
All I can say after this is welcome to the club of loyal players
that Sam's Town screwed over!!!
I knew before I went there that Sam's had gone to some kind of a "theo"
system. I wanted to see if the host would admit it and explain it to me,
but she would not. Only platitudes.
