This game was discussed earlier today, and I have two comments.
On a $2 machine in Paris, I was dealt only a pair of aces and drew
the other 2 aces and a 4 for $8000. That kind of luck could and does
happen every day on Super Aces, White Hot Aces or any game you could
name.
Last September, I was dealt 3 aces, a 3 and a "throwaway" card on the
8X line of a $1 Multistrike machine at the MGM Grand.
Yes, I held the kicker. No, I didn't get the 4th ace (or even a FH)
and moaned that i gave up that second draw which might have gotten me
$6400 ($800 for the 4 aces with no kicker X 8).
The problem with this game is not only the 2 return for 3 of a kind
which really hurts. It's having to hold that kicker because in
the "long run" the 5X "bump" (400 to 2000 or 800 to 4000) makes it
worthwhile. The reality with a high variance game like TDB is that
you rarely survive long enough to see that 3 of a kind with the
kicker again anytime soon.
I know I have to make that play in this game but I sure don't like it.
Yeah, I sure could have used the $32000 at the MGM that night. But
$6400 would have come in mighty handy.
