Does anybody know if we trigger a trip at Fiesta if we pay with our Fiesta points at the Sunset Station (on a day we are not playing at Fiesta)?

I can't answer your question.
But I'm wondering if there needs to be a new database category since
these general issues are frequently asked. People want to know what
and when a slot "day" is, how and if playing a few minutes at "sister-
property" affects your average, effects of restaurant card-swiping at
another property with no play, that sort of thing.
The casinos confuse you into thinking play and using rewards at
multiple properties is the same as just one. Obviously each casino is
still its own "unit" and how your daily average is affected clearly
rates as vital information

AFAIK, daily or trip average isn't considered by Stations Casinos,
including the Fiestas, when making discretionary comp decisions
or in their marketing offers. Instead, they look at the overall,
cumulative picture.
