We just returned from our annual trip to Norman, Ok. We stopped at the Cherokee Casino in Tulsa and, as expected, couldn't find anything worth playing. They have a pretty good variety of machines, but I couldn't find any pay tables worth considering. There is a lot of construction going on, and the casino seems to have a lot of business. They have a $1.99 senior breakfast on Mondays and Wednesdays, and it seems like a lot of people come in just for breakfast, and leave without playing.
Our next stop was Riverwind in Norman. They don't place much emphasis on video poker. I found two .05, .10, .25 multigame machines near the buffet, and a bank of quarter and up multigame machines at the other end of the casino. I didn't find anything approaching 99% on these machines.
Our last casino visit was Thunderbird, also in Norman. They had 10 video poker machines, which is 8 more than they had the last time we were there. I spent most of my time playing spin poker. This nickel dime quarter machine offered a lot of games, including 9/6 job, full pay bonus deluxe, and not so ugly ducks. There was another machine that had triple play 9/6 job at the quarter level and up. They had a huge variety of games and pay tables availabe on these machines. I decided that I didn't want to try to evaluate 10/6 double bonus, or U.S.A. poker that pays 25 for a four of a kind.
Thunderbird doesn't issue cards, so don't expect a large amount of comps. They are running a promotion where you get $20 in tickets for $10 in cash. Monday for senior citizens, Tuesday for ladies, Wednesday for men, etc. Drop in, get your $20, play a 99%+ machine until you run the $20 through. That's a 198% opportunity. Seriously, if you live within a gallon of gas from Thnderbird it might be worth revisiting the casino. They have gotten rid of a lot of the slots so it is easy to move about the casino, and it seems to be a little lighter, although it is still dark and smoky. There is no buffet or restaurant. They have a sandwich shop that actually isn't too bad.
