If Oklahoma has any good video poker we hit the wrong casinos. We
hit the Cherokee Casino in Tulsa, both on the way to Norman, and on
the way back. The casino is large, with a lot of small rooms. We
aren't sure that we visited every area, but we didn't run into
anything close to playable. We had lunch at the snack bar, and that
was just o.k. There is some construction going on, but all in all
this is a very nice facility.
We visited Riverwinds in Norman and found some positives. We had
lunch in an excellent sports bar, and the buffet was also pretty
good. We were able to find some nickel machines that had games that
were a little better than 98%. This was better than the standard
quarter machines that featured 7-5 JOB and 6-5 bonus poker. I was
disappointed to find that the "three hand poker" had been removed.
That game paid for the three cards on the left, the three cards on
the right, and all five cards.
We also hit Thunderbird. On our last trip, Thunderbird featured some
off brand multigame video poker machines that probably didn't have
anything worth playing, but it was fun trying to figure things out
while playing. This time, these machines had been removed. There
were exactly two working video poker machines in the casino. There
was one multistrike machine, with low pay tables, and a quarter
triple play machine that featured 9-7 double bonus. This may have
been the best video poker that I saw on the trip. However, with no
comps and no cashback (they didn't have cards) 99.2% didn't seem
like that good of a deal. The number of machines has been
drastically reduced at Thunderbird, and they seemed to have a nice
sized crowd of slots players.
We only saw a few machines that we could positively identify as
the "bingo" type. However, that might be because we aren't really
knowledgeable about non-random machines. We had a good vacation,
gambling very conservately. We need a different list of casinos to
explore on our next Oklahoma trip.
Trip to Norman
Thanks for the report. What 5 ent game did you find at Riverwind? I
have OU football season tickets and would love to stop by after the
game when I have time.
The only way I can tell if I am playing a bingo machine, absent the
actual card in the corner, is when a genie will suddenly appear on
screen and change one of your cards.
