Trip to Laughlin thoughts

I thought I would just mention a few random thoughts from my recent
trip to Laughlin. Some of these are opinions, so keep that in mind.

1. I was very pleasantly surprised to find gas about $.50/gallon
cheaper in Bullhead than here in Northern California. The pumps cap
my credit card at $75 for gas. I have a huge gas tank, and $75 did
not fill it up, but it was enough to get home.

2. The Aquarius looks nice. I like the new lounge with the outdoor
area. I hated to see the boarded up area with a sign for Outback
Steak House. Why do we need another chain coming in? The
restaurants in this country are all becoming homogenized. I can order
steak #2 locally if I want. I like variety and the small guy creating
something new and different.

3. I found that I could use my comps at the Pioneer at the Booze and
Butts. I picked up a nice bottle of Absolute vodka. I finally found
something I can use a comp for, at this place.

4. I gave a gallant effort at the Penq Wins drawing at the Colorado
Belle. I spent a day putting in a double shift to get as many tickets
as I could. My wife and I hit 15 quads for the day (30 tickets), a
few more for being alive, and I ended up with 35 tickets in the
drum. I estimate there were about 500 in the daily drum, and almost
everyone had only a few. I did not win. I could have got more
tickets for cashing in my CB, and a W-2G (forgot to ask), but the One
club booth closed early for the day. I did not want to trigger
another slot day, and ruin my daily average. It looks like it would
best to save them up for a huge ballot stuffing job if you are
staying and playing several days.

5. I saw a skunk and an Easter Bunny on the Pioneer lawns.

6. I moved up in status at the Colorado Belle. They gave me an
upgraded room and a white card. This gives me RFB at all the places
including the Orleans rooms. We did not overdue it (or maybe we
did?), but we charged away close to $500 in dining for my 4 night
stay. Thanks CB.

7. My diamond card is set to expire in just a few days. I am sorry to
say that I never even made it down to Harrah's for a last good bye on
this trip. I visited every casino in town but Harrah's. I don't feel
bad about it either. They have treated me very nicely in the last 2
years, but it is time to move on.

8. There sure are a lot of older people in town, and they move real
slow. I guess I will be joining them sooner than I think.

9. Here is some information that you will never need: If you need to
exchange Swedish Kroner, Edgewater is the only place in town that
will do it.

10. Riverside is still way too smokey, and the VP inventory is not
good. I just don't see any reason to play there anymore.

11. I had a great trip, and came home with a few $$ of Laughlin's
money.

12. If you like beer, the Boiler Room puts out some nice microbrews
and they will comp VP players. It is now non smoking, and with some
FP games with a progressive. Itis a great place in my opinion. Also,
Sassy Sue's has a nice selection of brews on tap. The best one is a
very expensive Chimay. I drank five of those on my trip...burp.

Bravo on a great TR. And of course it prompts questions since I'm going down there next
month.

I agree with you about the Outback. We have the Outback here at home. I would rather
enjoy a steakhouse ran by the casino itself. Also agree with you on the VP at Riverside.
Think I'll stick to BJ there.

I think I asked you about the CB white card the last time I saw you, but I forget what the
answer was. What kind of play do they want in order to issue the RFB white card? A
certain number of hours of play in a day I spose, plus when playing VP do they want all
$1.00 play or will 25¢ cut it? Will your RFB be free next visit or does it start all over again?
Any suggestions you can give 'cause I'm headin' down there next month. Right now, 3
hours of play a day between VP and BJ will get me a free room.

Last question...you said that the Boiler Room is smoke free now. That includes the bar,
where the bartops are?

Bob- I am no expert on the amount of play required at the Colorado
Belle, but I have figured out that coin in day is the king. I have
been on some type of RFB for about 4 years now at the Belle. What I
do is play very heavy one day, and then never stick my card in again.
It must be sometype of rolling average, as one trip a year ago I only
put in less than 2K the whole trip, and they gave me rooms and food.
It just dropped me down to gold card status.

Here are the card levels as I know them:
Gold- Free dining in the Buffet, Coffee Shop and Snack Shop
Silver- Add in the Boiler Room and Mark Twains
White- Add in Orleans Room and Mississippi Lounge.

My first night there at the Orleans Room, my wife order the steak and
lobster, and I ordered the rack of lamb. We had crab cakes as an
apetizer, and I order a cheaper bottle of wine. No way to eat any
dessert. When the bill came, he said it was all covered including the
wine. When I asked about the wine, he said anything you want except
if you order anything in the $200 wine area they have to call a host.
I hate to admit it, but I probably could not tell the difference
between a $20 and a $200 bottle of wine.

Also the story going around reguarding the sale of the CB and EW:
They delayed the sale until after the River Run. They did not want to
lose the revenue, as this is the time where they make good money.

All this talk about color of cards and dining status probably will
just become a moot point after the sales goes through. Enjoy it while
you can.

I got a lot out of your thoughts because up until now I didn't even realize that the CB even
HAD different card levels and I'd been staying there for years. I guess since they comp the
room every time I go I just never thought to ask about anything else. Since a few years
ago, I call down there, give them my name and One Club number. They ask me when I
want to come, and the next thing I know they tell me the room is comped. So I guess I
never thought to ask about more.

Like you said, things might change effective May 1 and I won't even get the free room
anymore. ha

Does anyone know if Edgewater has a similar card system?
