My hubby and are new to this comp thing, you would think we just rolled off
the turnip truck. We got an invite to stay free for 3 nights at the Bellagio.
Must be from me staying up one night till 8 am playing VP.
We got a pass to the front of the line for buffet... very cool and we
totally stood in line at check in not knowing there was a line for invited guests.
duhhhh.
We first had booked for a 2 night stay when the power went out a year or
so ago, they sent us to the Mirage , picked up the tab, refunded our deposit
from the Bellagio, then later sent us an offer to come and actually stay at
the Bellagio this time for free. That is when I gambled till all hours of the
morning and our first experience staying there. Then we got the comp offer.
My hubby doesn't gamble, but he sits for hours and watches me and when I
am lucky he goes to bed and I play uninhibited. For HOURS. The first night I
found a 3/5 play that had JOB 9/6 on the dollar bet, so I played 3 lines @
$1 each and I thought, " OH hitting a Royal at minimum bet would not happen, I
mean what are the odds "and I can't afford $15 a play but the paytable is
better than . 25 or . 50. Yep, I hit one, got $250, would have been $4000.
Later a nice gentleman from the high rollers slot room told me it might not have
hit on max bet, they seem to hit more on less then max bets. Maybe he was
just trying to make me feel better.
We had fun, lost more than hubby knew about, one night a tech changing
light bulbs in the machine next to us convinced us after some friendly
conversation and questions on where to play, to just go take a look in the high
limit slot room. That was the place to make $$. So we go find it, had to ask
directions and
we find a VP machine where we can play for a minimum of $10 a hand, max bet
was $50. We put in $400 meager dollars, played JOB, it was bombing, I
accidentally hit the max bet and played two hands before hubby calls a halt to
playing because something is wrong, I correct the error and he watches like a
hawk. Switched to DW and did better, stayed even a while then hit the 4 Deuces
for $2000!
We slipped over to the Venetian for a while but the fragrance they pump
through the place to cover the smell of smoke was overwhelming. WE also hit the
Palms for an hour or two, I tried my luck at the bank of DW . 25 where I hit
a natural royal last visit but had no luck and got bored.
At the end of the stay we had about 19,000 points the gal at the players
club desk told us they like to see about 20,000 before they think about
comping food, but we were right in the ball park to get more offers.
In fact last night my husband called our host and asked what she could do
for us for three nights next week. We were already booked at Paris and planned
on meeting up with my daughter and son in law on some cheapo trip they won
listening to a timeshare. Our host offered us two free nights and one at casino
rate $129.
Now I know there are much better places to play, but my husband is a bit
of a snob and really he just likes the Bellagio so much he doesn't care that
full pay machines are very scarce and non existent in my usual .25 play. I
don't care because if he isn't happy we won't be staying long in any casino. He
didn't even like the Palms. I LOVE the Bellagio too.
I will have a bankroll of about 3 or 4 thousand, and I am not exactly sure
how the points work so that I can maximize my points while we are there.
Hubby has suggested that perhaps he should play some as well. We each have two
cards in our own names and they are linked together for all point totals etc.
I LOVE multi play VP. And of course it was fun in that high limit room even
if it was scary at first. They had gourmet cookies, chocolate covered
strawberries, fruit, juice and nice couch and private bathrooms!!
Any advice on how to maximize our points so we remain comp worthy would be
appreciated. It doesn't matter too much that we might ( WILL) lose more at
the Bellagio, because in the long run it is a good deal for us, I fly free and
my husband can usually get a flight for $100, we don't rent a car and we
have a great time , it all balances out.
