I enjoy reading trip reports, so I decided to write my first trip
report and put it on a couple of board.
My trip was over Thanksgiving. I departed from KC two hours late
because my plane was delayed in Chicago from snow! The flight out on
Southwest was uneventful. When I arrived, I picked up a car rent from
US Rent-A-Car. Their rates are hard to beat. The next time you are
renting a car, I would suggest you check their rates.
I stayed two nights at the Trop and two at the Gold Coast. I arrived
at the Trop about 11 PM. Since I was tired (1:00 AM KC time), I went
to bed. I had one night comped and one night at $35. They put me in
the Paradise Tower.
Wednesday, I only played about $2000 through on VP. Just enough to
keep getting some of their mailings. In the afternoon I went to see
the Rick Thomas show. I think it is the best afternoon show in Vegas
(and better than some of the night shows). The price is less than
$15.
That night I had two comped tickets to Folies Bergere. Another
Excellent show. The intermission entertainment is Wallie Eastwood. He
is great. The best juggler I have seen, and very funny. I was alone
on this trip, so I could not use both tickets. I would have loved to
give one away, but it is not easy to fined one person who is looking
for a ticket (Any ideas?).
Thursday, Thanksgiving, I moved to the Gold CoastĀVP heaven. They had
double points and I got in 16000 point on quarter FPDW. After going
down $300 I hit the deuces and won another $50 to get even. After
another 3 hours of play, I was down $140 at the end of the day.
Friday I collected another 8000 points. I played even most of the
day, with the usual 2 or 3 hundred dollar swings. Then about 7:30
that night I had the Ace, King, and Queen of clubs show up. I held
them and drew the Ten and Jack of Clubs. I didn't realize I had a
royal at first. The machine didn't lockup and say "CALL ATTENTANT". I
was on one of their new machine and it just added on the money to
what I already had. This way there is no $20 tip like I normally
give, and that is nice. There was a large group of people walking by
at the time, and it was nice to get their congratulations. (I will go
off on a tangent subject for a while. It seems a lot of the locals do
not like the new machines. One man who congratulated me said it was
very unusual for the new machine to pay off. I noticed most of the
older machines where being played, but a lot of the new machines
where not in use. I think people are slow to change, and people like
to stick with machine they are familiar with and have won on. I don't
think there is any difference in the long-term payoff of the
machines. Personally, I like the new machines. They are ticketed,
fast, and easy to play.) Well, I ended Friday up $860.
That included $60 in cash back.
Saturday I flew back to KC. I had a good trip. I came back with an
extra $860. I had three nights of comped rooms, and saw two great
shows. And another good thing, I'm going back between Christmas and
New Years!
