Trip Report

From Boston for 8 days. $240/pp roundtrip. Layover at Midway. Southwest.
Car rental for a full size (Chevy Traverse) at Alamo for $270 including $13/day for liability. The Traverse is a big AWD crossover that got 15 miles/gallon. Almost got stuck on a dirt road so no more of that.

Stayed at Atlantis for 2 nights; next 2 nights in non-casino hotel (Gold Hill) in Virginia City. Then 3 nights back at Atlantis.

Second night at Gold Hill we drove to Carson City and visited Carson Nugget. Found only slim pickems not full pay pickem :frowning:

Went to Fandango and found airport dueces not NSUD :frowning:

Went to Bodine's and found the FP Super Double Bonus multistrike as listed on VPFREE2 database  We liked this locals joint. Hope they send us offers. Great casino to stop on our way to/from Tahoe. The new highway (580) is excellent.

Atlantis was very busy. Our offer included $150 freeplay and a pool floor patio suite. Also was able to cash-in $400 points for $200 free play on Tuesday.

Highly recommend staying one night in a non-casino hotel out in the country like Virginia City. Drove to Tahoe with friends one night for dinner as their coupon was expiring.

Got back yesterday. 7 hour plane ride is getting harder but both ways not crowded. Ahead $2K minus transportation expenses and the $200 for the stay at the Gold Hill hotel. This hotel is owned by the Comstock Mining company. There were geologists staying at the hotel that appeared to be very happy with the gold and silver production.

At the Fandango, if you walk halfway from the entrance to the end of the casino you will see, to your left, a sunken bar. At that bar there are FPDW and plenty of them. 20 nickels so they are essentially 20 cent machines.

Thanks for taking time to write a report. So- they removed the lone $1 pick'em machine at the Carson Nugget? It was there a month ago. They used to have three of them. They could not be played in the afternoon as the screens were so dim that the afternoon sun made it impossible to read the cards. Also one of three had a screen that was askew. The draw card on the left was only displaying about 1/3 of the card. It kind of became somewhat of a guessing game with some cards. They still have full pay pick'em across the street at the Horseshoe. Those are ancient machines also with "personalities".

I was at the Carson Nugget three months ago and they did still have two of
them at the $1 level. Both were at the end of a bank at opposite ends, in
the front of the casino facing 395.

Thanks. I liked the Fandango so will try to visit next time in town (if I can convince my spouse to play 20 cent machines. She is always afraid that is when she'll get a royal

Thanks, we missed those. Wonder if the 580 by-pass of Carson City will have any effect on the nugget? I580 will bypass Fandango as well but not so much for Bodines.
Nugget was very quiet. Fandango and Bodines both very busy.

That part of I580 hasn't been finished yet...it still exits on Fairview which dumps you right into Fandango.
However, you can always cutoff on the Old Highway 395 route (through the heart of Carson City)
I usually cut off at 50 and go by GDW and then turn at Stewart and go in behind CCNugget.

Nugget was very quiet. Fandango and Bodines both very busy.

Tell her that the "20 cent" machines use a different RNG from the $1 machines (or whatever your standard denom) and thus 20 cent play doesn't detract from the odds of your next $1 RF.

Yes, like Peppermill and Atlantis Fandango is a very special place.
