I have talked about this before. Most posters here don't like my
style of play which is not the method recommended by the FAQs. I
have been scolded and insulted by the administrator, and not been
treated too kindly by others, and I have promised the administrator
not to do whatever is not welcomed here. I hope he forgives me for

I know you like video poker, so I will tell you a few more details.
I was invited to the 'Lasso for Loot' giveaway week end at Bellagio.
I had previously decided to play every Video Poker machine of dollar
denomination and under, five pulls each. Last Saturday at the Lasso
banquet they had a drawing for ten prizes, starting at twenty
thousand in cash, and ending at a thousand in freeplay. Every
thousand points -three thousand recycled in VP- you got an extra
drawing ticket. I hate to go to Vegas for three days, so I reserved
four. I gambled so much that I was given the extra days comped.
While playing all the VP machines, I had lost two hundred dollars
when I reached the quarter -actually multi denomination, but
quarters in the lowest- Spin Poker Deluxe machines by Jasmine. I
thought it was extravagant to play them, but since I had decided to
play all VP machines on that casino of dollar denomination or under,
it was a point of honor for me to play these machines. They take 100
quarters. I had some small wins on the first three pulls, so my
credits were up a few hundreds when I got to the fourth pull, and
there it happened, I was dealt a Royal Flush in clubs, full coin, in
quarters. Twenty thousand big smackeroos.
I stayed for a few more days gambling. They say when you hit a
jackpot you have to be careful. I'm too frugal to go overboard. I
did play all the VP machines of a dollar and under, except the bar
tops. Nothing too exciting happened again, but I had some other nice
hits. At the nickel Spin Poker Deluxe machine in front of Fix I got
dealt Aces in DDB, no kicker appeared, it was a whole buncha
nickels, 16,000 of them. I also got quad deuces on nine lines in
Deuces Wild on that machine. Then I started to lose at VP. When I
lose at VP I play Keno. I hit several times five out of five on the
dollar Keno Multi Card machine. Then I took the Monte Carlo tram and
went to NYNY where by the exit to the pool they have the multi card
keno machines in nickels and hit several five out of five, and even
a six out of six.
The giveaway banquet was fun, but I did not win anything. I was
given a very nice Kenneth Cole bag as a gift, though, as well as a
hundred in freeplay. I played a lot at Caesars, mostly Super Times
Pay, but was not too lucky. I got a lot of comps there, though, and
had a free nice lunch at Mesa Grill and a free fabulous halibut and
lobster entree with morels and asparagus at Bradley Ogden for dinner.
I like Las Vegas, I like that tourist trap called the Strip. It was
good to me this time, and I'm handsomely bankrolled to try my luck
at Wynn Las Vegas in a few weeks, where I have a room reserved with
a view to the golf course. I might lose then, but I believe I'm
already winning since I'm going there; and if I lose, eating at
Boulay there will be nice.
I have already uploaded here a photo of the twenty Royals. I don't
consider myself too lucky, though I'm not too unlucky. Someone is
far, far luckier than me, though. I noticed that the quarter Wheel
of Fortune reset while I was in Las Vegas, so a lucky soul hit it
for over a million while I was there. Maybe I will hit it some day,
maybe not.
I hope I have more royals to hit this year. Royals, and Royals and
more Royals to all, and I have these good wishes even for
thenightoftheiguana, and for Harry, and for the administrator, as

No comps at all were offered for the jackpot, but I will keep
checking my mail. On this trip I recycled 150K on the machines, my
ballpark estimate, and I am sure that will generate future
invitations. I don't know what the minimum is.
The VP situation at Bellagio, I must say, is sad. There used to be a
lot of 9/6 dollar JB, none is left. The best is 9/5 JB. There used
to be a lot of 9/5 DDB in quarters, now all they have is 8/5 DDB in
that denomination. I am seriously thinking that if I go back there I
will play only nickels, or perhaps just Keno and Wheel of Fortune. I
hope Wynn has a better offering, at least on the first few weeks,
otherwise, maybe I should move to the burbs. GVR is nice, and so is
the Ritz. No glitz like in the Strip, and no divine restaurants, but
I guess in this life you can't have everything. When it comes to
choosing between 8/5 DDB and 10/6 DDB, I agree with the FAQs, I am
almost willing to give up Emeril's. LOL.

If you are willing to exchange the glamourous Bellagio for Motel 6.
there is no better vp in the universe, than at Fiesta Rancho.
My EH (excellent husband) and I frequently stay at 5 Star properties
when we we are visiting non-gambling venues. We always enjoy the
wonderful ambiance, services, beautiful rooms/suites etc. However,
when I am in LV, it is for only one reason: GOOD VP!! And I will not
accept substitutes, even at at the gorgeous Bellagio.
Try the Fiesta sometime. I'll bet that you'll enjoy yourself.

I know, I know, but I'm spoiled.
Years ago I took the shuttle from Fashion Show Mall to Fiesta. This
was when Five Deck Frenzy was popular and the Fiesta sign looked a
little bit like the logo of that game. I played all those wonderful
positive machines at Fiesta and lost. I was not thrilled by the
buffet there, even though the Las Vegas Advisor recommended it. I
know what you mean, good VP is nice, but I also like comfort on rare
trips to Las Vegas. After all, I only go to that city three, five or
seven times a year for a few days, and want to enjoy myself. I know
I could win long term at Fiesta, but even if so, there will be many
losing trips, most probably, and the place just does not cheer my
spirit as Bellagio, or even Green Valley Ranch, cheer it. When I
tell you all this, I'm being honest. I am tempted by Fiesta but,
what can I say? When I have to choose between a positive machine and
that Fiesta Buffet, and horrible paytables but that lunch at Circo,
I'll take Circo. I'm a lost case for good VP. I hope Wynn delivers.

I find Fiesta Rancho a wasteland, in spite of the Optimum play
progressives.
I want to play triple play NSUD progressives with a dealt royal, as
well.
They will NOT consider puttin gane in. This, in spite of bank 538 at
Boulder which is possibly the biggest 25c money maker that Station
has. Low hold but tremendous volume.

Choose 10/6 and I do believe Emeril's still takes cash. I know some
of us have a problem paying for food with cash, but sometimes it is

I like the ventilation, the comfort and the restaurants on the Strip,
but would prefer those casinos had 10/6 DDB and other nice goodies. I
can dream Wynn will give us the best of both worlds, but I will not be
surprised if I wake up on April 28th to Vegas reality. There is,
unfortunately, no free lunch.

As I always say (and occasionally even mean) to each his own. We
should all play where we derive the most enjoyment for our vp buck.
It can be an expensive entertainment when we are not on the right
side of the old Bell Curve, and to play where you are less than
happy is foolish.
I wouldn't count on Steve Wynn to provide much good vp at his new
magnificent ediface. Even when he owned the GN, the vp was just
fair, with 9/6JOB being the benchmark. What he DID provide, in the
old days (when BD was pounding away there) was excellent CB and comps
and perhaps he will do that at Wynn Las Vegas as well. Whether or
not he has any playable vp, I know it will be a nice experience to
stay in such deluxe accomodations.

BTW, I very much enjoyed the Fiesta Rancho buffet, on my visit there
last month, and said so in my TR. Perhaps my expectations are not
quite as high as yours. In any event, were someone to ask for my
opinion, I would recommend the Fiesta Buffet.

I did not play any VP machine of denomination over a dollar there,
nor did I play any bar tops, so I can't answer your questions for
sure. My guess is that all bar tops have at most 9/5 JB, and that
the JB machines of higher denomination than dollars are still 9/6.
When I finished playing all VP machines of denomination dollars or
less, I spent most of my time playing either of the two Super Times
Play machines in dollars, those were 9/5. Unfortunately, the whole
area where those machines were, between the craps tables and the
elevators, in front of the Keno Lounge was curtained off. A worker
there told me they were going to eliminate the carousel of slots
there, and they were installing just banks, this time parallel to
the walkway that separates the area from Keno. The Keno Lounge will

What will all those machines be, I don't know, but considering all
the downgrades they have been constantly introducing there since a
few years back, I'm not expecting much with the changes. On my last
couple of days in Las Vegas I mostly played nickel Keno at NYNY,
quarter Keno at Mirage, and quarter JB at Caesars. I called that
activity 'jackpot capital preservation'.

Maybe I should try Fiesta again, I was there last many years ago, I
believe in 1998.
Gambling, even at good VP machines, can be expensive if you don't
happen to be winning. I always go to Las Vegas not expecting to win,
but rather expecting to enjoy my stay. Of course, when winning
happens it is great.
My first Royal at Bellagio was early on the year 2000 on a half-
dollar 9/6 JB machine. That game in half-dollars survived the change
in the property ownership for a few years, even on multi play
machines. The great comps survived even longer. If Wynn Las Vegas
offers not extraordinary VP -we don't expect that on the Strip- but
at least the gambling conditions Bellagio had in 1998, then it could
be a fun place for gambling, besides being fun for comfort and glitz.
I have also heard from other sources that the Fiesta buffet is
highly regarded. On this last trip I did not visit a buffet once. I
have been to buffets but only when I find no better solution for
where to have a meal. The Bellagio Buffet is considered good, but it
has deteriorated from what it was years ago, so I have not bothered
with it in the last couple of trips.

It can be an expensive entertainment when we are not on the right
side of the old Bell Curve, and to play where you are less than
happy is foolish.I wouldn't count on Steve Wynn to provide much good vp at his new
magnificent ediface. Even when he owned the GN, the vp was just
fair, with 9/6JOB being the benchmark. What he DID provide, in

old days (when BD was pounding away there) was excellent CB and
comps
and perhaps he will do that at Wynn Las Vegas as well. Whether or
not he has any playable vp, I know it will be a nice experience to

As of March the multiline machines had been downgraded, but there were
still single line 9/6 JOB at the $1 and $2 level. If those have
disappeared too I guess I'll reward myself with some exercise and fresh
air to throw my money away at Caesar's.

you play? If so, I guess that you would consider Fiesta Rancho
a "wasteland". However, IMO, the single line FPDW with the
increasing prog. and the FPJW with the $1175 RF are very good
plays. I also like their 10/7DB & 10/6DDB at .05 to 1.00 denom.
Combining those games with 5X point Fridays, and Senior 3X points
Wednesdays and mailed freeplay, makes the FR a very attractive
play for me.

as to WHY you arrived at your conclusion.
BTW, their rooms, as I previously mentioned, are basic 50's
motel style. However, they are clean, neat and comfortable.
For my purposes (for the few hours that I spend in the room
each day) they are quite adequate, and a reasonable trade-off
for what I consider to be very excellent vp.

We play ALL games.
However, to maintain President or Macho status, points are important
and the triple plays earn them 6 times faster. Fiesta Henderson has
triple play NSUD as well as 9/6 JoB, both with dealt royals.
When at Rancho, the points are halved and seldom does the fpdw get
over 101% and the joker is limited to 101%
Bigger advantages are often available at the triple plays.
You forgot to mention $5 plus 5x on Thursdays
