Went for free overnight stay Harrah's and VP Tournament at the
Downs. Tourney was 9/7 DB and played 25 credits per hand for ten
minutes in each session. Two sessions. Before the tourney I played,
10/6 DDB 3 play@ 99.02% for 1 1/2 ended up $110, switched to $5 9/6
JB (15 min.) up $385 more. Did first round with 6150 score, not bad.
Did lunch at the "Great Western Barbeque Buffet", wasn't THAT great?
Live music was good though! On to last session and got the Aces for
10050 points, for a total of 16200 and first place;-) $1000 prize
minus $60 for state tax.
Day two:
Played 5 1/2 hours on a 10 play Super Ace at the Hollywood and lost
$200 considering cash back and bounce back. Made 1200+ points and
got $190 in cash back, not sure why it was so high? Top level pays
$7.50 per 100 points??
Checked out of Harrah's, and went back to the Downs for a little $5
9/6 Jacks. I wanted to use the scratch card for multiplying what
ever points I earned. Played 1 1/2 hours and earned 2000+ base
points and cash out up $370. I go to the total rewards desk to
scratch and she says I only earned 75 base points?? 2X on scratch
card would be a lot better on 2000 than 75, Oh Well?? Didn't get any
Treasure Hunt coins cause it one for each 100 base points. She said
she would have a supervisor check it out, but it didn't help at that
moment.
Ann played some Pick-em poker at Harrah's and finally hit her first
Quad for 600 quarters and while she was waiting for that hand pay,
she decided to try the machine next to her. She put in the 5
quarters and push the draw button..... up came three Jacks. she held
the pile with the Jack in it and got the fourth one. Neat huh! Her
first 5 quarters and she gets a Quad for another $150. She had fun!
Total for trip a win of 1500 +/-
Trip report, Shreveport - Short
-SOOOO, YOU'RE the big winner of the VP tournament! Congratulations.
I figured the winner had to have hit a royal or something close. A
friend of mine and I played; she came in 7th and I came in 11th. Not
too good, but I was happy to be playing. I'm nearly always happy
when playing VP.
One good thing, though, I hit a royal playing deuces at the single
line quarter consoles at the other end of the casino at the Downs. I
hit this minutes before I played in the tournament. Lovely it was.
After the tourney results were announced and I received my WIN of
$25 (ha), I went to the $1 triple play, cashed out over $700 and
came home. So all in all it was a good trip.
Are you playing in the tournament this weekend? I'm planning on it.
Good luck again if you are. Last week's tourney was my first and
someone told me that another player was holding only cards which
would lead him to a royal. Is that the way to play it? I can't
change my method at this point, I think. I learned basically from
Bob Dancer's WinPoker, and it's pretty ingrained.
Perhaps I'll see you there. Happy gaming, Judy --

Judy, Hi!
No, I am not in the tournament this weekend. I got one set Aces in
my second round which put me in the lead. Had someone hit two set,
or a royal they would have won. I just played as fast as I could
with the buttons as that is how I always play, don't like the touch
screens, have had to much trouble with them. More than I have had
with the buttons. I saw the way a couple of people were playing, it
was wierd to say the least. Consequently they had low scores. I
hadn't played DB in a long time and could not really remember the
rules. Just went for the higher paying hands a lot of the time. When
you play that fast you're bound to miss a lot of the smaller and
more complex hold situation. I was lucky for sure. I had been
playing the DDB 10/6/4 3/5 play and JB as well as Super Ace at
the 'wood and BT. It was my first as well! I know that they ( the
Downs )have had other VP tourneys and some on Saturday for larger
prizes, but since I don't gambel from Friday sundown through
Saturday sundown I can't do the weekend tournaments. I would like
to , but just can't. Any way, sounds like you did quite well too! I
will be in a slot tourney at the 'wood ( Hollywood) on Thur. and
Fri. this week, and decided to make four days out of this trip.
First night at Harrah's, second at the Boomtown, and the last two at
the 'wood. I will be around the BT for the Double points on Tues.
late then the Downs, then the 'wood for the last two days. My wife
can't make this trip so I will be playing hot and heavy...... if my
funds hold out;-)
Good luck in the Tournament, hit a royal and blow them away!!
I can say that 'cause I'm not playing! <G>
