Trip Report Part 1 - Mirage/Caesar's - Apr 5th thru 8th

This is my first report, so bear with me if I fall short.

The wife and I stayed at the Mirage for three days (comped one-
bedroom tower suite and $100 food credit). I'm not certain why we
received such a generous offer, but we had averaged about $35K coin-
in per day combined during three 3-day trips over the past twelve
months.

As usual, I spend a lot of time checking the pay tables, and can
confirm the "best games" database is correct and up to date, that is,
lousy. Additionally, since our most recent visit last November, the
50 and 100 play pay tables have been shorted further (most now in the
unplayable 96-97% range).

We've been VP addicts for about six years now. Spent the first few
years playing $0.25 single play exclusively, but now we can only feed
the beast with multi-play (5 play, 10 play, and SpinPoker at $1.00
and below). Best short game at the Mirage is Ugly Ducks at the $0.50
level (two banks with 8 machines each about three rows in front of
Kokomo's).

As an avid lurker for the past year and half, I know you folks
probably think we're crazy for not pursuing full pay at our level,
but we love the Mirage, the glitz of the strip, and easy access to
the vp at Caesar's and Bellagio.

Didn't make it to the Bellagio this time because, thanks to VPFree,
we knew they no longer have 5-play 9/6 JOB at the $1 level. But,
thanks to VPFree again, we spent a full day at Caesar's pounding the
two $0.25 Super Times pay (6-hour session of 10-play 9/6 JOB), and my
wife also hit the $0.25 9/6 JOB 5-play Multi-Strike for about an hour
(too complicated for my brain on alcohol).

Dining turned out to be a mixed bag. Moongate at the Mirage was
fabulous as usual (well worth a visit if you want great chinese and
great service in a comfortable, casual setting). They've got a dish
called XO Beef that is simply sublime.

We also tried Nero's over at Caesar's (couldn't get a reservation at
Bradley Ogden on short notice). We dropped a bundle for dinner but
it was wonderful (about $400 for two people if you order a $125
bottle of wine, have oysters as an appetizer, split a surf and turf,
and tip 20%).

The new Carneige Deli at The Mirage was a big disappointment. It's
super pricey, super small, and super unpleasant. IMHO, the Stage
Deli at Caesar's, our usual haunt for breakfast, is superior in every
way.

I would hope that most of us think that wherever

you're in your happy & comfortable zone, while playing vp, is where
you should be. Most rec players play for varied and different
reasons. Certainly, one of the most important reasons is how much we
are enjoying our surroundings. Were I to play at your level, I
doubt that I'd do it much differently.

very much. This type of TR helps others to decide whether they will
try a particylar rstaurant......particulary, the very pricey ones.

Yes, the $2 single plays were there as of last Friday.

Are the $ 8/5 bonus machines still at the Mirage. I'm staying

there next month and hoping to have something to play.

You are correct, and I did in fact "see" the bank of $1 BP slant tops
your talking about (actually, they're closer to the front of Renoir),
but I didn't actually verify if they were still 8/5 (sorry).
