I just returned from a wonderful 4 day trip to the Mirage and spent
many hours playing my favorite DDB game at the Baccaret Bar. I am
an RFB player and make 4-5 trips per year to the Mirage.
I played 10-12 hours per day. Additionally I eperienced 10 games at
$1 DDB and $.25. They were my undoing. Didn't hit anything on the
$1 ten play, losses totalled about 1500. On the $.25, I was dealt 4
4's for a $1000 hit and a few hands latter was dealt 4 7's which
allowed me to run up anpther $1000 win before cashing out. I
returned and played the $.25 10 play a few more times during the
weekend witout success. Probably gave back most of the $2000 I won.
Wnt to the closed circuit De La Hoya fight which was a great event.
Didn't agree with the decision.
After the fight played until 4:30 a.m. At this point was down about
2000 for the trip.
Sunday was a much better day, by 4:p.m. finally hit, 4A's with a
kicker for $2000. Managed to lose $800 of that on the 10 plays, and
came back to the bar, put a $100 in, played 5 hands, drew AK clubs
and hit the Progressive Royal for $4700. Finished the night ahead
for trip by about 1000.
Monday my last day was real up and down, but ended the day hitting
4A's with the kicker again for $2000. Blew $400 of that and had to
check out. On my way out, decided to throw a twenty in and hit
4'7's on the second have. Recovered most of my blown 300.
I finished the trip even, except I guess it's a positive with RFB
coverage for all expenses.
I continue to be amazed by the emotional highs and lows of this game
but I love it. Had I stayed away from the extremely volitile 10
plays, my performance would have been much better. I still lack the
dicipline to know when to quit. Over the years I seem to get lucky
and bail it out at the end but not all the time.
The Mirage DDB progressive is an 8-5 game, not great but fun.
Incidently, as I was playing Saturday evenig and losing my ass, a
group of 4 young guys walked up to the bar to order a beer, a guy
put in a $5 drew 4 to the Royal and hit it for $5700. 2 seats down
from me. Was I ever jealous.
