As a follow up to my trip report, I did hear from Gina Lombardi of the
Rampart and she has comped my bill.
I never go to Las Vegas without getting a rental so that is not an
issue for me. But we had to go from the Rampart back to NYNY on
Sunday night for the show and then went to the Golden Nugget on Monday
night for dinner. It was a real hike both trips and I would have to
cutdown on the number of trips that I made to the Strip/downtown area
since it would just eat up time.
The Rampart is a good alternative for someone who wants to get away
from the Strip and will spend a significant amount of time at the
pool. Also, it has the golf course. I am not a golfer so that does
not influence me. Otherwise, it tends just to be an upper scale
casino/hotel.
I am envious though of the shopping offer that you got since that is
one giveaway that I definitely like and I did not get it. I have
still given NYNY business but it generally has been just a one night
stay with a satisfactory amount of coin-in to collect the freeplay.
I think if you are willing to play early morning or late night, you
will have a good chance of getting on the dollar JOB. Afternoons can
be iffy.
The screens on some of the quarter three-play are bad, others are
acceptable. I wonder though if they will be replaced some day with
some poor pay replacement.

Thanks for the detailed report especially on the Rampart. Have been
thinking
of giving them a try but not sure if it is worth it to have to rent
a car.
We have not been back to NYNY since they obliterated the VP but we
just got
an offer for a Macy's gift card that is too good to pass up. I sure
hope those
$JOB machines are free when we get there. If I recall correctly,
the screens
