Trip Report - Low Roller

I feel obligated to make a report to what I feel is the most useful forum on vpfree.
We stayed at Silver Legacy and left the 3 connected casinos only once, to make a trip to Atlantis. We took the bus, and it worked out very well. The stop is only a short walk from the Eldorado, and the buses seemed to be on schedule. The walk to Atlantis was also short. When we hit Atlantis, we probably made a mistake by finding the nickel (10 coin) loose deuces. I enjoy loose deuces, and since we had only a limited amount of time, we didn't explore the Atlantis. I hit a $400 natural royal to make the trip quite positive.
When we returned to Eldorado, I still wanted to chase the 4 deuces. We found 3 multigame, muti-denomination machines featuring short pay (99.2%) loose deuces. We played for quite a while (down $30). My wife left to find the slots, but I called her back to show here my 4 deuces. I said "have you ever seen 4 deuces twice in a row?" I pushed the deal button to get 3 deuces, and filled in the 4th.
I was playing 9/6 progressive JOB at Circus Circus when I saw a group go by carrying 6 packs and cases of Bud Light. I then read the sign on the machine that said "6 pack bonus", and realized that they had a promo giving away 6 packs of beer or soda. I played a little more to get a 4 of a kind, called a slot attendant to get a card, and cashed it in for a 6 pack of pepsi to drink in the room. I played a little more and hit 4 kings. I waited for a slot attendant and then realized that another 6 pack would go unopened, and certainly wasn't going to be placed in the suitcase. In fact, we left 2 cans for the maid when we left. Not a very valuable comp, but fun to win.
At the Silver Legacy, we played mostly NSUD. I found several 100 and 50 play machines with full pay JOB, but I didn't find the full pay deuces (I think it is really there and I just missed it) and I couldn't find the full pay All-American (I don't think that it is really there).
I was really pleased with the meals. We had an outstanding lunch at the oyster bar, and the Scallops at the Silver Legacy buffet more than made up for any other shortcomings that it might have had.

Thanks for the TR! It sounds like you had a fun time and also came back with a buck or
two of the casino's dough. That just shows that a VP player can still have a profitable
visit to Reno now and then, whether a high or low roller.

The last time I stayed at the Silver Legacy, the FPDW bank was located against the
wall at right angles to the exit, in the SW corner of the first floor. There is a DDB prog.
sign over the bank, which seems to throw folks off. To my knowledge, this game is still
there. Evidently, the SL makes enough money off of this quarter bank, that they are
willing to keep it in on the floor. Since I have occasionally watched which cards some clueless players held and discarded, I can understand this! {{O:

The FP AA may be gone now, but it was there last Fall. I know because I played it for
a few hours. The name on the game was "USA Poker". Unfortunately, these days, it
seems as if games come and go on an almost daily basis.

I was really pleased with the meals. We had an outstanding lunch at the oyster bar, and the Scallops at the Silver Legacy buffet more than made up for any other shortcomings
that it might have had.

The Sky Terrace at the Atlantis also has excellent seafood specialities. I prefer to eat
there rather than at the SL Oyster Bar because the ST is a totally non-smoking area. NOT, as is the case with the OB, in an area that is subject to a constant barrage of
smoke from passersby.

IMO, the ATL buffet is considerably better than the SL buffet. Though, when I stayed at
the SL last year, I found their buffet to be quite acceptable. I was dismayed that, at
the time, the buffet was closed on Mon. and Tues., as was the Food Court. The only daytime restaurant open at the SL on those days was the Coffee Shop. It was
possible to eat at a Circus Circus or El Dorado eaterie and charge it to your SL room.

I hope that you have many more enjoyable winning trips to Reno.

Reno has almost, but not quite, passed Las Vegas on my personal list of favorite vacation destinations. I still LOVE Las Vegas the best though.........You know what is said about
first loves! {{O:
