Trip report - don't read if you cringe at someone playing short pay machines :)

We spent 5 days at the Stardust last week. Flew out of Columbus on US
Airways/America West. We were invited for the Stardust's slot
tournament. Lets just say I did crappy, had a bad first session and
one good session and one great session. Still the bad session was
enough to put me way down - I think it was 240 something. They had
435 entrants!! The one marketing person that I talked to said it was
the most she could remember in a long time. Great banquet though.

VP wise this was my worst trip in years. Of course there are no good
paytables at the Stardust at the .25 level. I did hit aces on a ddb
machine but just could not get going with anything else. I know, I
know, what do I expect with short pay tables. But the Stardust treats
us well and we like to give them some play. I did do ok at the Palms
playing db and ddb. But, with the great advice from our lunch
partners, Jean and Brad, we hit the Cannery for the first time.
Joined the slot club and hit the db machines while watching the
Pittsburgh game. (i don't normally root for pittsburgh because i'm a
bengals fan, but i work at Miami university and thats where Big Ben
played). in the one hour that we played my hubby cashed out $35 and I
broke even (hit aces again but still couldn't hit anything to go with
it). We ended up cashing in 2 gas cards and 2 wal-mart gift cards for
that one hour's play. Not bad at all! Thanks Jean!!!!!!!!

Jean and Brad were extremely nice and answered a lot of our questions
about play and comps. and about moving to Vegas which is our goal in
2 years!!!!!!

I'm just learning Deuces Wild on Frugal Video Poker (i know, i'm late
to this game - i originally learned JOB first). Played 2 sessions and
couldn't hit a thing (ongoing theme if you've noticed). Began to
wonder if I remembered anything from my practicing.

We did play some blackjack (we are newbies and only play $5 at this
point). After one 1 1/2 hour session I cashed out $125 after buying
in for $100, after one 4 1/2 hour session I cashed out $75 after
buying in for $150, and had one horrendous 1/2 session where the 72
year old dealer, Virginia kicked my butt in no time flat. I left my
hubby at the table and i went to the room to finish watching Kobe
score 81 points. Hubby joined me 2 hours later - a winner. Must be nice.

All in all we had a good time (as always). we only take money we
intend to lose - but we usually come home with some  Oh well,
there's always next time.

Thanks for the kind words, Rhonda. And it was a great trip report - we all need to hear about the real VP world - and that includes losing streaks as well as winning ones!!!

almost forgot my best session of the trip - went to casino royale. we love
to go and get our sheet of coupons and then hit the vp for the 4 of a kind
bonus and the wheel of fortune machines for that bonus, etc.

playing db and it deals me a straight flush within 5 min of sitting down
and then 10 hands later get the 4 of a kind for the $10 bonus and I was
outta there. On another note I played the twightlight zone penny machines
to try for that bonus which i've never gotten - you have to hit one payout
of 2500 coins to get a $10 bonus. I played more per line than i usually do
and hit a monster bonus round where i hit over 4000 credits. got my $10
bonus and then I was outta there, lol.

Thanks for the kind words, Rhonda. And it was a great trip report - we all

This is odd. Hubby and I have played CR for years and were also there
this past week. As usual, along with various coupons we don't use, we
both got our regular sheet which includes two 4 of K bonuses, one for
$25 on any of them and another for $40 on quad 5, 6, or 7. We have
never received a coupon sheet with a $10 quad bonus coupon. Does CR
have different coupon sheets for various levels of play?
