Played mostly at the Atlantis with one afternoon at the Peppermill.
Played predominantly 99 play 2C SDB for play requirements and 25c 10/7
DB for relaxation at the Atlantis. Put through about 60K in action
over 3 days. Ended up winning about $800 on the back of dealt jacks,
fives, fours, and tens. Hit a 1 royal flush on the redraw (100 play).
The new 10/7 DB progressives are the new machines with the LCD
monitors. Nice sharp graphics but operate a tad slower than regular
machines. Broke even on these machines with sessions of +50, +100, -
50, -100. Played 5 play SDB multistrike and cashed out for a $300 win
on the back of 4 5's on the top line and a Royal Flush on the bottom
line. It is confirmed that the $1 10/7/80 by the stage are gone - I was
really looking forward to playing these machines.
Played my favorite Sherwood Forest Slot Machine. This machine is my
personal ATM as I cashed out 3 time with wins of $50, 100, and 50. In
my last four Reno trips, I have won on this machine about ten total
times only losing once. If anyone is so inclined it is the machine
behind the the 5 play Multi Strike in front of the Java Coast - it may
have high return % setting. Put in at at least $50 or higher as a
large part of the return of the game is in the bonuses round. (I know
this is pathetic talking about slot machines like this but I always
bring $200 for relaxing slots play)
At the Peppermill played 25c FPDW hitting ducks in a two hour session.
Also played MJ Perry's favorite 10c 10 play Super Times Pay JOB. Lost
most of the money from the ducks ($200).
As far as food goes the meals were scrumptious.
Wednesday Lunch - Oyster Bar at Atlantis (fully comped)
Crab and Lobster Cocktail were outstanding. Atlantis Sushi Roll was to
die for. Fried Shrimp with panko breading was so-so. My new
indulgence was the garlic ffrench fries. French fries tossed in olive
oil and garlic and doused with liberal permesan shavings - outstanding!
Wednesday Dinner - Atlantis Seafood Steakhouse (fully comped)
Lobster Bisque was average with not alot of Lobster in it. the
Escargot had a very funny taste and was rubbery - DNF. The prime rib
and crab legs combo was outstanding. The prime rib was succulent with
an excellent beef flavor. The crab legs were fresh and tasty as well.
No dessert.
Thursday Lunch - Peppermill Oceano ($50 dining coupon)
The spider and California rolls were excellent. The Seafood Pan Roast
was mediocre (Scallops were rubbery)and the Gumbo was terrible. I was
very disappointed with Oceano after hearing raves from others. Saw my
host from the Atlantis eating lunch here! He asked me (in a joking
manner) what I was doing there. I told him that I would not have left
the property if he has dueces wild that payed 5 for the four of a
kind. (it is always best to be circumspect with hosts I did not want
him to catch on that I am knowledgeable about VP and FPDW) He said he
would look into it and let me know.
Thursday Dinner - Atlantis MonteVigna Italian (fully comped)
The Carpaccio and Proscioutto and Melon were outstanding. The
Prosciutto did have a significant amount of fat however. The homemade
buttermilk Blue cheese salad dressing was outstanding. The veal chop
with porcini mushrooms was cooked perfectly but the angel hair was
gummy (overcooked) Dessert was Tiramisu and it was heavenly.
Montevigna has flights of wine and this is a fun way to taste many
different wines for the price of one glass.
Friday Lunch - Cafe Alfresco (fully comped)
Had the Mozzarella sticks and the Asiago stuffed olives. Still the
best mozzarella sticks in the US. Had the butcher boy pizza. The
meats on this were outstanding with excellent flavor. What i do not
understand about the pizza here however is that with such a beautiful
brick oven why is the pizza crust preformed and not made from fresh
dough...
Friday Dinner - Atlantis Seafood Steakhouse (fully comped)
Shrimp Cocktail for an appetizer was four small shrimp. Tasty but
small. Atlantis onion soup in a carved out onion is a must try. The
New Zealand lamb chops were horrendous. Extremely tough and difficult
to eat. It did not help that the knives at the steakhouse would not
cut. You would think a self respecting SH would at least have knives
that could cut! The SH really needs to go to ala carte sides instead
of the same old tired garlic mashed and mixed vegetables - home fried
and creamed spinach etc. come to mind.
Saturday Brunch - Purple Parrot (fully comped)
Chicken Fingers and a Cowboy Burger and fries. Good coffee shop fare.
Overall
My host had previosuly not been deducting meals off of my comp
account. This trip he decided to do so whacking $400 in Comps for
food. I know I shouldn't complain but he had done it the previous
three trips. All rooms comped, limo to and from airport comped and
purchased an alabaster elephant and giraffe (both damaged on the plane
flight home). Picked up $300 in Atlantis free play and $325 in
Peppermill free play. Won overall (including free play, and slots, BJ,
and Craps screwing around) $800.
