Hi, just got back from a 4 day trip to Vegas, and had a question about
a Black Jack Bonus Poker machine I played at Sam's Town. I was
wondering if anyone could figure out the percentage of the game? The
payouts are as follows: royal-4000 4 aces with a black jack-4000 4
2's 3's or 4's with a black jack-2000 4 of a kind with a black jack-
800 4 aces-800 4 jacks-800 4 2's 3's or 4's-400 straight flush-250
4 of a kind-125 full house-45 flush-35 straight-20 3 of a kind-15
2 pair-5 jacks or better-5. Sounds like a crazy game, but it had a
sign on the top that said it was over a 100% game (I think someone may
have moved the sign from another machine). Anyways, I threw a $20 bill
in it and got the 4 aces with a black jack for $1000 after playing for
about five minutes!!! We usually play only positive games, but I
thought I'd give it a shot. If anyone can figure out the percentage of
this game, it would be greatly appreciated. We also hit a $1000 royal
on 10/7 double bonus at the Gold Coast, and a progressive royal for
$1569 at Sam's Town on the 9/7 double bonus progressive machines.
Overall we came home about $2650 ahead!!! It was a profitable trip,
and it's always fun to be in Vegas!!! Can't wait to get back there!!!
Thanks, and any help would be appreciated!!! Scott
Trip report and Black Jack Bonus Poker question.
Just curious about these, if anyone is bored and doesn't mind figuring them
out and/or punching them into software:
If you are dealt and hold a pair, what are the odds of getting the following
on the draw:
3 of a kind?
4 of a kind?
If you a dealt and hold three of a kind, what are the odds of getting the
following on the draw:
4 of a kind?
Full house?
If you hold 3 suited cards, what are the odds of drawing a flush?
What are the overall odds of getting the following hands in DDB, assuming
perfect play?
Any 4 of a kind?
4 Aces w/ 2, 3, or 4?
4 2's, 3's or 4's w/ Ace, 2, 3, or 4?

Your question doesn't specify the full house/flush payout.
The 9/6 version of DDB has approximately the following frequencies:
5-K Four of a Kind - 1 in 613
Four 2's, 3's, 4,s - 1 in 2601
Four 2's, 3's, 4's with a kicker - 1 in 6893
Four Aces - 1 in 5760
Four Aces with a kicker - 1 in 16233
In the long term you'll see a straight flush in DDB about 1 in every
9124 hands. There are 36 ways of getting this hand, from an ace low
in each suit to a nine low in each suit. You are paid 250 for a 5
coin bet, while the identical number (36) of ways to get 2's 3's or
4's with a kicker returns 800. It's just another glaring example of
why when you do get a straight flush (and especially an extremely
rare ace low SF) you are being tremendously "underpaid". The SF
return of 500 from full-pay Bonus Deluxe or 400 from full-pay Super
Double Bonus are exceptions.

I posted a strategy and payout for this game a while back. You should
be able to do a search and find it. I believe the payback is around
99.4%.
