Arrived in Reno last Thursday evening and took the limo to the Pepp. Checked in at the VIP Services and went upstairs and settled in. I'm a 10-6 DDB player and I went to the bank of slant tops by the blue keno/steakhouse and pulled a hundred bucks out of my free play account. Within about 10 hands, I hit 4 aces w/ a kicker for $2k. Played out the rest of the hundred and went over to the High Limit Area and plopped it down at the bank of slant tops along the wall. Cleaned out my free play account and, little by little, cashed out with $1,300. Went to the Coffee Shop and had a Reuben and headed back upstairs.I had cancer surgery back in November and am now doing chemo so I get tired pretty easy. This trip was planned and airfare purchased before being diagnosed, so I kind of had to go. Woke up at 4:30 the next morning to the sound of trucks backing up (beep-beep-beep) and realized that I was on the south side of the tower and they are building a parking garage right below my window. Nice start to day 2. Got some coffee and went back to the blue keno bank. Proceeded to lose about a grand so I tried the HLA (High Limit area) again. Won the grand back and then lost $1200. Got some more coffee and went upstairs for awhile. Talked to VIP services and got moved across the hall (city view with no construction) and I must say that they were very apologetic and eager to satisfy my request.Went back to the HLA a little after noon and was playing one of the 2 bar tops that have 10-6. About an hour into it I hit another 4 aces w/ kicker, was feeling cocky so I started bouncing between $1 and $5 games and darn if I didn't hit four 2's w/ a 5 (not a kicker but still worth $2k) and figured I'd stop for awhile. My friends arrived a little later and checked into the adjoining room. I had an offer for a suite of some kind but talked to my slot host, Gary, and got two adjoining rooms comped instead. Just a note, it was 62 degrees in Reno last Friday (breaking a 1946 record) quite a change from the rain and rain and rain up here around Seattle. We went and had some dry, stale pizza from the food court and then they took off to seek their fortune. I went upstairs and fell asleep before 10 (this chemo sucks).Got up Saturday morning and figured I'd check out the bank of slant tops along the back wall in the video poker area over by the Fireside Lounge. Played a little and damn if I didn't hit the progressive Royal for a little over $4100. With a large bulge in my pocket I went back upstairs and counted my blessings. Bounced around or the rest of the day, winning and losing but staying about same as after the royal. One thing that happened that I thought was pretty cool; I hit 4 aces w/o a kicker 2 times in 5 hands in the area by the Fireside. Sunday was a losing day -$2k. But flew back to Seattle with a little over $8.5k to the good (best trip ever :D). Now I don't have to worry about those pesky medical bills.
