trip in Feb

Hello

My hubby and I are planning a trip to Reno in Feb. We haven't been
for many years and are very excited to be going. We're staying 2
nights at Circus Circus and 2 nights at Peppermill.

I'm hoping to find some JoB full pay nickel machines. Small
bankroll says that's what I need to play while he goes skiing.

Anybody have any idea if I'll even be able to earn any points
playing nickels?

Anxiously trying to grow my bankroll so I can move up to quarters.
I understand JoB isn't the best paying game, but it's a low volatile
game, so I think I'll last longer on it.

I used to play a lot more years ago, but the loss of a decent-paying
job and extra bills deleted my vp bankroll and am now trying to
start playing again.

Thanks in advance and happy new year!

Joyce

The Peppermill has LOTS of FP nickle machines, on their mezzanine. I
believe that they call this area "Nickle Heaven".

I'm not sure that there is any JOB, but there is 9/6DDB and 10/7DB.
At least there was last month! They also have short pay NSUD prog. in
the nickle denom. It's a fun play.

Good luck on building up your bankroll.

Thanks!
I'm trying hard to learn DB and DDB (on WinPoker), but I'm making so many mistakes I sure don't want to use real money yet.

Hey Joyce:
And as far as your question about earning points on nickel machines:

(I usually don't post unless I have a more definite answer, but here goes anyhow...)

I know for sure at SIlver Legacy, the nickel machines do NOT even have a slot for your slot
card, so I'm pretty sure neither does Pepps nor Circus, but I COULD BE WRONG! (Gasp!)

If you want to try to get some points playing nickels, you could try this trick: Play on the
multi-line nickel machines, and play only one (or a few) lines at 5 creds per. Those
machines have slot card reader slots, so you'll at least register some play. You know that
accumulating points will end up being very slow, but it's probably good to show SOME play
as you begin the climb back to quarters and more significant comps.

You are SMART to play within your budget. STICK to your Plan! Let us know how it went.
I'm interested in rooms at Circus- last time I was there a long time ago, the walls were thin
and it seemed like there were noisy parties everywhere - hard to get to sleep.

And, just my experience, but DDB is much easier to learn than DB.

Thanks!

Circus Circus has FPJoB on a 100-play machine that can be played with
a 1-cent unit. Of course, you'll have to bet 5 units per hand to get
the full-pay schedule. So you can reduce your variance to 20% of
what "nickel machines" offer. Or you can still bet a total of 25
cents (on 5 hands) which would also reduce your variance somewhat but
not your comp earnings. You won't earn much at 25 cents a deal; but
you should earn something. As I recall, every $10 bet yields 1
point on that game. Unfortunately I don't know how much a point is
worth in comps. Maybe someone else here can tell you. Anyway, good
luck and enjoy your trip.

Reno Master

P.S. Last time I was there the machine was on the west end of the
eastern row just west of the main pits. When playing the machine you
will be facing the stage.
