Trip Diary 8-5-06 (2 of 20)
I was able to sleep about seven hours after yesterday's
marathon. I wanted to get the AC adapter for my computer, so most of
my morning was running around for that and finding out I had to order
it from the company. I found out that Kinko's no longer allows
people to pick up packages from their stores, so I'm not really sure
what I'm going to do. I suppose I'll just have to go without my
computer this trip. Kinko's wins out because I'm paying to use
there's here to get online.
Enough of that. After all this, I over to Hooters Casino. I
make it a habit to go to all the new places and get a player's card
and put some points on it to get into their data base. The slot
attendant tells me that if I put 500 points on it the first day,
they'll give you an extra 500. After playing Pharaoh's penny machine
for a hundred points, I saw a three-way poker machine. I had never
played this before and gave it shot. It was a nickel machine but you
had to play 15 coins at time (five coins for each hand). I hit four
Aces only the final hand for 2000 coins and cashed out ahead
yea! A
very nice surprise was that this particular machine was giving double
points (I check others and only this one was giving the double
points). So, I picked up my 500 points very fast.
There was also a drawing for a Hawaii vacation for new
members at 6:00 PM, but you had to be there to win. I gave it some
thought, but I headed back to Terribles. I wanted to put another
hundred through their 9/6 JOB quarter machines. I'll do this each
day I'm there to keep the free offers coming. Today, I was all over
the place winning and losing. Finally, after putting another 1500
points on the card, I cashed out for the same hundred I put in
a wash.
I then headed over to Kinko's to write yesterday's report and
talk to the manager about the package. I didn't need to meet Stephen
at the Cannery until 7:30 PM and it was only 4:30 at this point. I
thought I'd go back to Hooter's for the drawing at get a bite to eat
as I hadn't had anything yet today.
A lot of people on this board have said how much they dislike
Hooters. However, I found it okay. The casino isn't unlike walking
into any Hooter's Restaurant. Wooden floors, and the orange and
white color scheme. The machines are pretty short pay. However, a
note to beachstu, who had asked about some machines. Stu: The
machines at the bar tops at all the bars have 9/5 JOB and the Bonus
Poker does have 8/5; however, all quads are 150 credits (I've never
seen this version of BP before). There's no bonus for quad Aces or
low cards.
Needless to say, I didn't win the Hawaiian vacation. I left
for the Cannery. Stephen called and had go to his room. I carried
his guitar and walked with him to the green room where I met a couple
of the members of Ambrosia. I then went around to the concert
seating. Stephen comped me a nice seat close to the stage. The show
featured Ambrosia, Gary Wright, Stephen Bishop, and John Ford Cody.
The concert last two hours and was terrific. It was "hit" show, so
all the players played their hits. Stephen sang "On and On," "It
Might Be You," (theme from TOOTSIE), "Save It for a Rainy Day,"
and "Separate Lives."
After the concert, Stephen need to do the usual meet and
greet, so I went a played some more FPDW, on the same machine that I
hit the deuces and the royal yesterday. After $60 of trying,
nothing. Oh well
you can never go back.
After Stephen went to change his clothes, we went to dinner.
It was 11:30 and most the restaurants were closed; however, we did
find an Applebees that open and had a late dinner. The concert plays
tomorrow in Colorado, so I took Stephen back to the Cannery, we said
our goodbyes, and I headed to the Kinko's by Terribles on Paradise to
write this report before going to bed.
A couple of apologies: I made a mistake in yesterday's trip
report. The song that won the Academy Award that Stephen was up for
wasn't "Hotel California." It was Lionel Richie's "Say You, Say Me,"
which Stephen reminded me on stage in front of the entire 1500 people
in the audience. The other apology is for all you readers of these
reports. I usually proof read these reports before I send them in
for spelling and other errors. However, this is costing me twenty
cents a minute to write this, so considering I think much faster than
I type, you'll no doubt find many errors and missing words. I
apologize for that.
I leave Terrible's tomorrow and head downtown to the Vegas
Club.
More tomorrow.
