Let me state right up front I have a low tolerance for stupidity in either people or corporate policy.
We arrived at ST, LV, last week in our motorhome and checked into their RV park. My account on their BConnected web site still shows Emerald status (they refused me an Emerald card last year). I went to the booth and asked for a slot card and was presented with two bright green Emerald cards. What the....?? We haven't gambled one red cent at a Boyd property since we left Sam's Town last year.
I received a couple offers for free nights and food at Sam's Town -- one through the mail and one on the internet web site. The one on the internet came with $100 food credit so that's the one I wanted to use first. I printed out the offer and called the number listed for reservations. The reservation clerk couldn't help me, never heard of the offer, said the promo code was invalid, transferred me to another number which was an "out of the office for three days, leave a message" recording -- dead end. So we used the mail offer (which stated in fine print the free room nights could be used in the RV park) for three nights and four meals at their lousy buffet. No problem here.
Now the fun starts. I tried to add three more nights using the internet offer. The park clerk never heard of this offer, didn't have the promo code in his system, couldn't help me. I headed into the casino to see a host and get this worked out. Unfortunately, David V. was off that day and I had to deal with Kathy G. Her attitude right up front is, "How can I screw you over today?"
"You can't use two promotions at the same time"
I'm not, the first one has been used and has expired. Now I want to use another one.
"You can't use two promotions back to back. You must leave for at least three days before you can use the second one".
OK, I guess I can understand that. How about I pay for three days then use the second promotion for three more days? We will be here for a month.
"NO. You have to leave".
You mean physically leave, go somewhere else for three days then come back?
"Yes".
That doesn't make sense, why would the casino make a top tier player go to a competitor for three days?
"That's hotel policy, I don't have anything to do with hotel policy"
This argument went on for some time and the woman just plain stonewalled me, was adamant that we leave. A decent host would have bypassed this stupid and unreasonable policy, gave me three days, and wrote me out a food comp for $100.
I finally gave up. To her credit, Kathy did manage to get through to someone somewhere who recognized the promotion and made a reservation for us to return to the park in three days.
We also have hotel offers for casinos on the strip. So we will just park the at Sam's Town overflow lot for three days and go to a hotel. I checked with security about where to park and was informed that unless we were hotel guests we could not leave the motorhome in their parking lot.
It's a conspiracy, they are forcing me to pull up stakes and leave!
So I checked out of the RV park, Lucky Lucy checked in under her name and a different credit card. The clerk confirmed that our reservation for the promotion was in his system. No one will ever know the difference.
So why do we stay here and put up with this frustration and aggravation? We like the place, the RV park is nice, it is an easy walk to the casino, we have lots of points for food comps, the park personnel are accommodating, but most of all is the transportation (we do not have a car). We can catch the shuttle bus to either downtown (more Boyd casinos for food and fun) or the strip where we have lots of TR points to use at Harrah's casinos/restaurants/shows.
A final word about Kathy G. Last year I asked her to comp some of our time in the RV park. She said no but did give me a comp to their lousy buffet. A day or two later I asked a different host, David V., to comp some of our RV time. He comped us four weeks! Quite a difference.
