Only thing I can think of is you must have looked like somebody on their
blacklist. Your biggest mistake was to act like an attorney by asking about
"probable cause"
On a more serious scale your incident reminds me of when I was a victim in a
motel office robbery. It was midnight, I was the swing clerk being relieved
by the night shift guy. I was about 30 yrs old he was in his 60's. Two robbers
burst into the office and hustled us in the back room by showing guns. In
the back they saw the large motel safe and demanded the older clerk open it
thinking he was the manager. He said, "I don't have the combination." The
robbers turned to me and told me to open it. I said, "Sir. I don't have the
combination sir." They turned back to the older clerk and threatened to shot him and
then to cut off his ear if he didn't open the safe. So you can imagine the
actual next response from the older clerk, he was an avowed homosexual of the
most flaming type. He responded, "Well... I guess you'll just have to shot me
because I don't have the combination." I'm thinking, no Frank don't talk
like that. The robbers hog tied and gagged us both up with rags. There was a
knock on the outer window, "Santa Monica Police. Come out with your hands up"
The robbers stutter stepped back and forth saying to themselves, "What'l we do
what'l we do" I tried to talk though my gag. They loosened it and I said,
"Sir. Go up the stairs and out the bathroom window sir." BTW all during this the
robbers called us by the name "mother f....k" over and over. After I gave
them the escape route one of them said, "Thanks" then they left.
I have no sympathy for what happened to you because of your mouthing off to
what amounts to authority, be it a robber with a gun or a security guard in a
casino.
