Trespassed at the El Cortez

At approximately 8:50am this morning, I was TRESPASSED at the El
Cortez.

I had activated a 3x points coupon and played on a TITO $1 10/7 DB
machine in the high limit area for about half an hour. I was escorted
from the machine by a suit and two security officers back to the slot
club booth. There I was given my unredeemed cash back and was read
the trespass.

It was not a "barring" (i.e. your play is too strong for us, you are
welcome to play any of our other games, except BJ or VP)...it was a
trespass...if you enter the El Cortez again for any reason you will
be subject to arrest...in accordance with NRS xxx.xxx...

I checked my records and I am down $10,415 this year at the El
Cortez, partially offset by $2,025 in cash back. Last year I had
winnings of $4,435 and cash back of $2,075. So it certainly isn't a
case of winning too much!

I only play there on triple point days (.6% cash back). I only played
the TITO $10/7 DB (a $30/hr play) with an occasional play on the $1
NSUD 3 play/5 play. On Memorial Day, I had deuces dealt on the $1
NSUD Triple Play. I don't know if that had anything to do with the
trespass. When I asked the suit why, he said "no comment". I didn't
think of it at the time, but I should have gotten the name of the
suit.

I've been barred from a few places when I played a lot of BJ, but
never trespassed. Hope this is only paranoia on someone's part at the
El Cortez and not the start of a trend.

wow

had you ever been barred there for your BJ play?

> had you ever been barred there for your BJ play?

Wow is right...its just wierd that I was trespassed instead of just
telling me no more VP.

No...I try and not to play BJ where there is good VP.

The only thing I can add is that I've always let my cash back
accumulate to a couple of hundred before cashing it out. At that
level, a suit has to approve. The boothlings can only give out $100
max without authorization. Too much visibility?

Thanks for the detailed description. I've been following all the
recent banning/barring threads with much interest. Let us know if you
learn any more.

Is it possible you could be on a list the casinos circulate of known
BJ card counters?

El Cortez has long had a reputation at sweating blackjack play, and
barring anyone they even thought might have a clue as to how the
game is played -- in other words, they knew basic strategy.
Personally, I'd never darken the doors of the place for a host of
reasons, even though their coffee shop has a decent reputation. So
I'm not surprised they'd trespass someone who they thought was even
a slight threat to their bankroll.

--I read this post with interest since my daughter-in-law (who
plays Craps/non-counting and only SOMETIMES basic strategy BJ) was
barred from BJ at the El Cortez. They didn't believe her when she
said it must have been a case of "mistaken identity", and refused to
permit her to play. She had won about $150.00 at that time betting
only nickles and quarters, plus doubling. My son, who is an actuary
and an accompished card counter, was not bothered. He was also not
winning as much as she was. She went to play vp while he finshed
his BJ, and tgey didn't bother her there at all.
I am curious as to what Don did to follow up on this disgraceful
action on the part of the EC. Did hevever find out WHY this happened?
Does he have any legal recourse for the frightening and shameful way
he was trespassed, seemingly without cause? Has any other member
had a similiar experience at the EC? I play there whenever I'm in
town and this gives me pause. I'm extremely interested in the input
of other members.
Thanks

I read both these posts with interest since I play quite a bit at
the EC. I am always fully comped for RFB. I have had many Royals,
DoubleDeuces & 5/KInd. Everyone has always been very nice to me. I
do play quarters mostly, instead of dollars, but my husband plays
dollars and he's had some nice wins also and never had a problem.
Has anyone else had similiar unpleasant experiences?
