The outcome of the cards is random. Just one of the payoffs may not be random. I did read a couple of years ago that in goldmine?, a similar type game with a full house triggering the bonus, that any payout was possible after every full house.
Goldmine was in the bartops of the bowling alley bar at Gold Coast.

That is correct. Any game that has a "slot" component can be changed by a
simple switch inside the machine. To clarify , The VP part cannot be changed
, but OK to alter the random payoffs that are the slot component , but not
VP. Thus , a greedy casino operator can lower the goldmine total EV by
manipulation of this aspect of the game. Same goes for Treasure Chest or
"spin reel" poker. In my mind, if your going to be playing these "mixed
breed" VP machines, you may as well play megabucks and go for it !
