Get Bob Dancer's Win Poker. I got it a few weeks ago to practice for my upcoming Vegas trip and love it. The wife and I are not heavy gamblers. We only play Blackjack ($10 tables max), JOB 9-6 ($1 or $.25, 5 play) and occasional $5.00 Craps. Last year I dropped $100 in a $1 JOB 9-6 at Wynn, played for about a 1/2 hour and got on their mailing list. About a month ago they sent me their "Full House" special that we are taking advantage of this trip. Room rates for 1/2 normal and $150 in play credit. I know others get more but this is the kind of comp that I get at my level of play, I don't mind, Steve always treated me well when he was in charge of the Mirage. I used to get great room rates there.

BTW, I just hit my first ever Royal on it on the practice WinPoker today. I was kind of disappointed that it didn't scream WINNER at me. For awhile I thought it didn't register until I looked at the coin count and saw an additional 4000 credits. Hope that I didn't use up my quota of Royals before I get to Vegas.

Winpoker is very good but here is another excellent program highly
recommended and I find it is easier to use for new players IMO

WinPoker is a terrific program. It makes learning VP games kind of
fun.

You can also use WinPoker to get a good estimate of the cost of the
errors you make on games you think you play "perfectly".

Darktower;
If you want to buy just one program, Frugal Video Poker is easily the best choice, IMO. It not only is a trainer, but it provides accurate strategies for almost any game. Over 60 games are built in - a lot more built in games than most other programs. And you can setup, analyze and save an unlimited amount of new games, also unlike most other programs.

But the strategy generator is what makes the program unique. The strategies, while extremely accurate, are also free of unnecessary complexities known as penalty cards. After you have been doing this for a while, you might want to alter a strategy. You can modify the strategies in FVP as much as you want, (making them simpler for instance) and the program will tell you what the return is for each variation. You can practice with any of them and the program will accurately catch any errors for that strategy. Another advanced (a stage which you no doubt will get to) feature is the ability substitute any of one games strategies for another game, then analyze that and see what return it has. I have used this program probably more than anyone in else except it's creator, Jim Wolf, and maybe more than him. I have also used virtually every VP software program in existence. I believe the program is the best overall value of any video poker software and is a bargain.
FVP is available from http://frugalgambler.biz/

For a dedicated trainer for a specific game, I think the best trainers available are the ones from Cap Richards. He doesn't offer every game, and his products are strictly trainers, no analysis and so on, and a little expensive for just one game at a time, but they are really great trainers.
