Traditional May & June Promotions...Baby can you drive my car?

The Riverside leads the way. Followed by the Golden Nugget in a weakened
form...but good to see them back from the dead.

The Riverside for the last few years has had drawings in May and June on
Thursday nights. These are "Big Bang" one winner take all drawings, 7pm. For
nine weeks you can win a shiny new car or $20k, your choice.

The details are not posted, but these things usually are just for players.
No tickets for eating, sleeping or buying stuff. The rules should be posted at
the slot club and the drawing area by the south casino/promo area.

Now for the Golden Nugget. Tim & Tom got the GNL out of the traditional
yearly promotions, Laundrys followed suit. A few years ago GNL did a "Red, White &
Blue" promotion. They gave away 3 trucks and $25k. Two were in the drawing
drum of several hunded envelopes, one white truck for the "Big Bang" at the
end on a Saturday night. It used to take a $20 suited BJ or a $100 hit for VP,
tickets were a premium.

Here is the blurb from this week's Laughlin Entertainer:

“Wheels and Fortune Car and Cash Giveaway”The prizes: A new Chrysler 300;
also a variety of cash prizes from $100-$500.Format: This promotion runs from
Monday, May 1, through Saturday, June 24, with drawings held every Friday
between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Five names will be drawn with each winner receiving $500
($2,500 each Friday). On Saturday, June 24, six names will be drawn between 2
p.m. and 8 p.m. for a total of $1,000-five winners will receive $100 each and
one winner will receive $500. The final drawing for the car will be held at 9
p.m. (the winner of the car has the option of a $20,000 cash alternate prize).
All winners must be present. The drawing drum is purged after the last drawing
every Friday night.Entry: Entries can be earned from 10 a.m., Monday, May 1,
through 6 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at the rate of five entries with every 100

It looks similiar to earn a drawing ticket, but a bit easier. At GNL, 100
points is $2,650 coin-in (five tickets) for .25 VP. A suited BJ could be the
way. I really haven't played BJ at GNL in awhile...no promo. They used to deal
$10 single deck (.2% vig) and $3 shoes (.6%).

I started played BJ again because of a GNL BJ promo in 2003. They moved a
Carribean Stud progressive jackpot to a $1k a day drawing, a fine premium at
about 2% on $5 hand BJ. Ten years between BJ hands...El Rancho in 1993.
