After a nice 3 day Thanksgiving holiday with California relatives, I
stopped for three nights in Las Vegas enroute to New York. I stayed
at NYNY on an offer of 3 nights RLFB + $250 Free Play. A host, Steven
Bernstein, contacted me and offered to upgrade my room. I asked him
what would/would not be comped considering that I was on a limited
food and beverage. He replied that basically it was the number of
dollars that I spent, rather than where I spent it that would
determine what would be free. He further said that a limited RFB
would give me about $100/day in food comp.Great..or so I thought.
Anyway..after three days of play and $81,000 coin-in, I checked out
of my room at four o'clock and continued playing as my flight didn't
leave till midnight. Around 5:30 I called Mr. Bernstein and asked for
a dinner comp( didn't ask for a particular restaurant,just a comp).
He denied me the comp saying that I was overcomped !! I asked him how
this could be since I had only averaged about $55/day in food comp.
He told me that he figured my room was about $160/day( a room HE had
upgraded me to) and which I subsequently had to leave because of "vent
noises"(another story in itself). In addition to already used food
comp, he said that I had done most of my play at another MGM property,
to which I replied "..isn't that what MGM/Mirage promotes,play
anywhere, redeem anywhere ? " He paused, oh and in addition he deducted
my $270+ in point play( free play based upon coin-in). I was
enraged. "Since when does point play get deducted from comps!?"
Needless to say NYNY has seen the last of me. I will never stay at any
MGM/Mirage property unless I am given FULL RFB upfront in writing !
BTW trip was profitable. And..NYNY sent me an email survey and
unlike Harrahs surveys, gave me an opportunity to write my opinions in
addition to filling in circles numbered from 1-5. Because I had given
some "1's" to various questions and wrote some criticisms, they wrote
that they would contact me. As of today they haven't.
