My wife (JP) and I stayed at the Gold Coast for 6 days and played a
lot of deuces. No royals to report, but there was some interesting
deuce action. We started on Thursday with nothing, on Friday I got 2
sets and JP got one, and on Saturday we were whitewashed again.
Sunday was a 6x points day, so we decided to start playing early and
often. In less than two hours, JP hit 3 sets of deuces. Not long
after her last one, I held a lone deuce and pulled up the other 3,
played 2 more hands, held 2 deuces and pulled up the other 2, played
10 more hands, held 2 deuces and completed the set again. So I got 3
sets in 15 hands and we had 6 sets in 2 hours---sweet! We hit nothing
for the rest of the day until 2 minutes before midnight, and then JP
hit another set.
On Monday, I broke a 5 of a kind and hit a set and later got dealt a
final set. Even with 12 sets of deuces we still lost on video
poker---someday we'll hit a royal. Our blackjack play, sports
betting, and cashback helped the bottom line.
We had a suite for 3 days, but preferred the non-smoking regular room
that we had for the last 3 days.
Our host, Cam Burke, seems great so far, and we hope to return.
