I used to play quite a bit at Ceasar's before the conversion to Total

provide their opinion on the value of playing enough to achieve
Diamond level. Are the advantages that much greater that warrants
the level of play required. I've seen the brochure about what you
get at that level but what is the real story? Thanks for your
thoughts.
I'll offer my take: If you're going to be a frequent visitor to
Harrah's properties, Diamond is a very valuable status simply in terms
of convenience.
The lounges tend to be exceptional and a quick bite to eat in one can
save you a decent amount of RC's otherwise spent in restaurants. The
express lines at the TR desk, cage, check-in and restaurants are a
perk that'll give you a small smile every time you benefit. There are
other modest perks to Diamond that are pleasant, but not as
significant in your play experience.
However, the bulk of your offers will still be based upon your average
daily play. Aside from the occasional Diamond event (e.g. bonus
RC's), cash and room offers won't be significantly affected.
My advice is that unless you subsequently expect to play at a level
and frequency that will renew Diamond through the standard accrual of
10,000 base points after you initially earn it, it doesn't merit
pushing for $20K of play in a single day, particularly if you normally
wouldn't put more than $10K through otherwise. The risk of incurring
an unusually large single day loss (especially if you increase denom
from your standard play) isn't warranted by the benefits.
