Top Ten Casino Annoyances...

Did you say "generous tip"; it's less than 1%. I would give more but that's just me. Is there a standard for tipping at casinos like there is at restaurants? Just wondering.

Spent a weekend at Harrah's Laughlin, the remaining bar has 10 coin DDB Progressive. I hit one for $1106.50 and got paid all in hundreds and $6.50 didn't feel a $6.50 tip worth giving so they got ZiP.

A $6.50 tip for an ~1K jackpot is plenty generous, especially since this hit shouldn't require a hand pay to begin with.

The bartender at Hooters told me the standard tip for jackpots is 15% for average service and 20% for good service.
'Just like the restaurants" she said. The bartender was looking for $600-$800 on a $4,000 royal. Anyone tipping less is viewed as cheap. Period.

If you go to the vpFREE home page, click on messages and then enter tipping
in the search box, you will get hundreds and hundreds of posts here on
tipping. The administrator even recognized the fervor whenever tipping was
mentioned here and ran a poll a couple years back. Nothing brings out post
fever here like tipping. In your search results, you can read about tipping
probably for the rest of the month. If you take good notes, you will
achieve professional level expert tipping in no time at all. Or, you can
wait until the Wayans Brothers come out with "Tipping, The Epic".

Yes. The standard is that no tip is required.

Is there some history that anyone can point me to that discusses how tipping for a casino jackpot came about?

It is just amazing to me how many casino people accumulate around a winner at the time that the pay out actually occurs.

I even had an interesting incident once with a "chambermaid". My wife and I usually leave a tip on the bed with a "thank you" note. Well, one morning, while returning to our room to brush my teeth after breakfast, the maid (still cleaning up our room) thanked me for the daily tip and then asked me to also remember her if I were especially lucky that day. She seemed to be expecting a "tip", even if I just happened to be a winner at some point.

Everyone seems to want a tip for a casino winner. Thus my question about some history on the subject.
