Thanks for the calculation. It was really quite an easy one. With the
room rates about $65/night with tax, the EV of this promotion is about
$1.82. They advertise this promotion on billboards as you drive into
town.

Actually? Consider yourself lucky to have lost the dice throw. I've been
through Tonaopah myself. I learned yrs ago that before doing anything in a small
Nevada town to always consult with the locals. In this case you shuda talked
to the old guys wearing cowboy hats with their feet up on a barrel on the
splintery deck in front of the Tonopah Feed & Fuel Store. The Tonopahians I
consulted with told of the dice being weighted in your favor. You would have won
then been offered a second throw for a three night stay complete with meals,
which you would have won. The catch? You ever heard the "San Antonio" joke?
The girl upstairs in "Room 4" who was tough, so tough she opened a bottle of
beer with.... [that's as far as I can go with that] The joke originated in
Tonopah and yes, she's still upstairs waiting in YOUR room. The free meals?
They have a daily pool party banquet just like the quarterly affair at the old
Key Largo. You remember the Hawaiian band from the Key Largo that morphed into
a country band when the Rodeo was in town? Yep. They're the band at the
Tonopah pool party. You remember how you felt real old at the Key Largo pool
party when you observed elderly ladies dancing the non couple dance, The Frug,
and you took to watching hoping they'd fall into the pool? Nature abhors a
vacuum. They're at the Tonopah pool party.... Always consult with the locals
first.
