Tomorrows news

The Palms owns Garduno's, the 24/7 Cafe, the Buffet, and (I'm pretty sure)
Ben and Jerry's. No sales tax should be charged the customer at these places
when using a comp, or when using points. All other food outlets will charge
sales tax, whether you pay with a comp/points or not.

Also, even though it's not a restaurant, the Palms Shop should not charge
you sales tax on a comp or when using points, as it's also owned by the Palms.
This does not hold true for the Stuff Store, the Playboy Store, or the Jewelry
Store--they will all charge sales tax.

As has been pointed out, the key is whether the outlet is completely owned
by the casino. If it is, no sales tax should be charged on a comp, or when
using points.

I want to thank you for offering to look into this for me. My wife and I
finally got back to Little Buddha just last night.
We asked the waiter about the tax issue and he said that because the Palms
does not directly own the restaurant that they continue to charge tax. I
didn't push the matter further with him at the time.

Richard,
I work for the Palms. No, we do not charge tax when using points, at least
in the restaurants.
I have never seen that happen. Please let me know if this does happen
again and I can look
into it for you. If you want, you can send me a private email with your
player's card # and I
can pull some of your restaurant transactions and mail you the proof.

This is important for me because as a frequent visitor to the Palms,

using points (which I'm assuming is considered comp) they consistently

forgot.

Do you think points are considered comp as well?
