On my last quick walk through of the Nugget (December 30th) I
believe I noticed only 1 $1 9/6 JoB machine. There use to be two
side by side, but now its only one. Also, from information just received from the Ramada, the newly
remodeled rooms at the Ramada might now be the best in Laughlin.
They have finished one tower and are working on their second. They
claim the ar "Best Night's sleep in Laughlin". Each room now has
Sealy Pillow Top Mattress, 300 Thread Count Sheets, 6 Comfy Pillows,
Granite & Tile in Bath, 27" Flat Screen TV, White Plantation Shutters
that open and close fully and other funiture and decorative
upgrades. The Casino Tower is completed and Promenade Tower is being
completed at the rate of 40 rooms a week.I also grade Harrah's and Golden Nugget base rooms as very similar
in quality. However, this is based upon only two stays at the GNL
and numerous stays at Harrah's.Keep up the good work. You certainly remain on top of everything
and we all apreciated the effort. There are a couple of others who
also are a great help about Laughlin and they are also appreciated. The GNL is sending me $20 twice each month and double points all
of January and February. I have decided to not try to spread myself
too thin at too many casino. Not just Laughlin, but other
locations. I am not that big of a player that I can be rated at too
many casinos at once. For our use, 2 in Laughlin is the best bet.
This allows me to double book a comped weekend and share with friends
if I want. I use to receive VIP treatment at the Ramada, but that
has cooled significantly. I never pursued the Riverside or the old
Flamingo. Maybe I should put the new Aquarius in my sights. I have
never stayed at the Pioneer, but had play enough for rooms and a lots
of free food. The River Palms sends me two nights and $10 twice a
month. They downgrade their VP enough that it is little incentive to
pick that casino as a concentration casino. I use to get free offers
from the Edgewater, but they lost out to concentrated play at the
Belle. I would like to switch my full RFB from the Belle to the
Edgewater, for a change in restaurants, but that is not loyal or
practical.

Yes you are correct futrend about the one and only $1 slant-top Jacks in that
east/west row. There were 7 Barbaric Deuces in quarters in that row too, but
alas the paytables was shorted in the full house to 3. Does anyone remember
the Barbarics being 10/4/4? Linda Boyd thought they were at one time. I
didn't pay attention to them until June 2006.
GNL also has that one Sigma Bonus Deuces 99.6% in quarters that returned to
the floor over by the elavator. The Royalmania 8/5 Bonus with sequential royal
(reset at $10k) is down to 8 machines by the south end of the "Reef" bar.
There are a couple of $1 Bonus 8/5 too scattered about.
So how did GNL inform you of double points for Jan/Feb? When I have three or
more points in the "Insider" I get two double point coupons/month instead of
one.
I forget if double points means double comps at GNL. Anyone pay attention?
I know the adjustment still is manual.
As far as the rooms, GNL basically only has 300 matching rooms and 4 suites
to offer. Any room at Harrahs-L in the central or south tower is an upgrade
from the family north tower. RE- has never sent me a postcard.
