Today's LVA QOD - comments needed

Today's QoD is about using two slot club cards in two machines.
Do they cancel each other out? Or are both cards' points awarded.

I answered that both cards' points will accumulate.

One person then wrote and stated that at the Mohegan Sun, they cancel each other out. He wonders if casinos that don't allow joint accounts somehow prevent
points from two cards with the same number from being counted.

Does anyone have personal experience at Mohegan Sun and can verify that indeed if two people play on the same card (or, one person is playing 2 machines at the same time) that your points "cancel" out and NO points are accumulated on your account?

Brad and I have played in a good many casinos across the US for many years and never noticed any problem with points accumulating even though we often both play on the same card. However, that doesn't mean that somewhere a casino is trying to make a liar of me!!!

Has anyone ever seen/used a slot club system that does not allow 2 cards of the same account to accumulate points if used at the same time?

At the Atlantis in Reno only one players card can be used at a time. When you insert the 2nd card the machine will not read it. Was told at the players club that this was the case. This was about two or three years ago.

Interesting. Can someone verify that this is still true?

No, it is not still true. This can now be easily verified as you can check your tier score on the machines. It takes a little bit after both cards have been removed for the tier score to correctly reflect play on both cards.

The Atlantis has made many small changes to their slot club and tracking system in the last couple of years. There have been times when there were glitches in the system and play wasn't being recorded or was recorded for the wrong players. These glitches are annoying when they happen, and aren't always resolved satisfactorily when brought to the attention of the staff at the Atlantis.

The current annoyance is free play doesn't always show up promptly when it should be available. We've had to insert and remove the card up to half a dozen times to get the free play to show up. Going to the slot desk just yield the suggestion that you try another machine. In fact, it doesn't seem to matter what machine you try it on, you can eventually get it to show up if you try enough times.

We have had problems at times at some casinos getting cards in two machines to track play on both. A while back we had a problem at the Silver Legacy in Reno with this issue, but on subsequent trips playing multiple machines worked fine. I would change the blanket "It works" response in the LVA to "It *should* work, but you should verify through whatever means are available that it is working if it's important to you."

Of course, I have no way of knowing if this is correct or not. It
possibly could have been an answer to someone who had two cards
inserted, but one failed to read.
So.........................................................because
some people will not use the sentence "I don't know"; they made up
that answer.

Ever notice how many people (Boothlings are not exempted) who will
tell you a totally wrong answer, rather than say I don't know?

Thanx to everyone who gave me input, and especially to Part Timer, for your detailed explanation about using 2 slot cards at the same time.

for your detailed explanation about using 2 slot cards at the same time.

Albuquerque NM area:

At Santa Ana Star near Rio Rancho and Bernalillo NM, only one card can
be used on an account. If you ask for another card, the slot club
cancels the previous card electronically, and that card can no longer
be used.

Two cards are OK at Sandia, Casino Hollywood, and Isleta casinos.
Haven't tried at Route 66 Casino.
