Rob,
Could you kindly share with us how many copies of the "Undeniable
Truth of Video Poker" that you have sold so far?

Although I don't really know the number of copies sold, I'd say about
28,000. It's not important to me becausae gaming books aren't million-
sellers, but the 2nd printing is just about sold out.

Rob,
Thanks for being honest and forthcoming about your own book
sales. I do own a copy of your book, by the way. I can now see that
your gambling income probably exceeds your income from book sales so
it sets my mind at ease about your intentions. I also appreciate the
fact that you try to help lots of people with their gambling
(compulsive or not) through answering others' e-mails. I think you
mentioned that you answer to quite a few people through your vptruth
e-mail address?
Anyway, I wanted to add that I always try to find the best
paytables in any VP game **AND** apply your disciplined,
philosophical approach of leaving when goals (win or lose) are met.
Think of it as a pleasant blend of mathematics and philosophy.
Can you share with us more about your special plays that deviate
from optimal strategy when it helps to meet your goal in one big
hit? I couldn't find the specifics in your books or articles since
you mentioned that you have lots of these situations you
utilize...where can I find more on the specifics of them?
                           Thanks,
                           Jim (psychophysical)
PS. Does "psychophysical" mean having what your body DO what your
mind SAYS it's going to do?? *grin*

Sure. But that's probably not the most important issue about video
poker that I've been honest about over the years, and people know
that.

I average about 50 a day now. Some don't require answers--they simply
want to tell me what a great website I have and how refreshing it is
to see the truth printed about gambling for a change.

That's basically the same approach i take, although WHERE I play &
what GAMES I play are much more important than the PAY TABLES I play.

I've found the only way to cover my special plays is at a machine
playing the hands with people. Because most of them are variable
depending upon factors such as where I'm at in my goal, what
denomination I'm playing, what game I'm playing, and the paytable,
there is no firm answer to the question. Basically, I go for the
winner that will attain or surpass my win goal, once the risk of
ignoring the possible easier, smaller win is weighed. For instance, a
hand such as 22557 in DB, DDB, or TDB+ usually finds the 557 being
discarded in favor of the possibility of hitting the four 2's--but if
a full house will attain a goal, I hold the 2-pr. However, in 10/7 DB
and 10/6 DDB (where they can be found), in $5 and up I more often
than not keep the 2-pr. regardless of my goal (again, depending on
how far behind I am at that point).

                           Thanks,

That's something you would want to ask Jean Scott about. Seems like a
good answer would include a lot of gobbledegook, double talk, and
back-patting, and you won't find a better such delivery than from her.
