Tips

Rob,
Do you think there is a potential correlation to the games (machines)
offered long term based on the ability of people to be paid through tips.
i.e. if everyone stopped tipping at all, would you agree that the casino
would be forced to increase the wages of employees to compensate this
change? And by compensating that change wouldn't you think that the casino
is going to do something in regards to the gaming to compensate for the
reduction to their bottom line? I would be inclined to think that if
everyone stopped tipping you would end up seeing a bigger house edges in
games and/or comp systems drying up faster than they already are.

I believe that what machines the casinos have is completely uncorrelated with how much employees make in tips. If different machines would make the casino more money, assuming no one tipped, those machines would be put in now.

I bribed, er, tipped everyone. When you're in the same casino everyday doing the same thing, like sweeping out flush attacks, you are in a glass house. You have a strong money making play but you never know when or if heat will come down. The last thing I wanted to do was make an enemy out of anyone in the joint. If I took a fill I tipped. If I took a handpay I tipped. I tipped the cashier. If you ever lose a play because the person pushing the change cart put the heat on you you'll figure it out.
