I have never had a casino host turn down a cash gratuity. There is little difference between a $100.00 bill and a $100.00 gift certificate.

I also enjoyed and appreciated Marcela's post--I've known her since

Her insight gives us all the "rest of the story."
And Scot, my original post referred only to the latest Megabucks
winner, and
how she failed to tip anything to the slot personnel. I had no
knowledge of
her tips, or lack thereof, to the cocktail servers.
However, AFAIK, you are correct. None of the three Palms Megabucks
winners
have tipped anything to slot personnel. I think you all know by
now how I feel
about this. And ignorance is no excuse. During the hours and days
immediately following the hit, dozens of people are sure to have
asked these people,
"How much did you tip?"
The latest winner won an equivalent of around $6 million lump sum
after
taxes. If it were me, I would have tipped $5000 to $10,000, mostly
to slot
personnel, but some to the CWs, Security, my casino host, and
other people who have
treated me well at the Palms. But that's just me. For "normal" VP
hand pays,
I tip 1/2% with a minimum of $10.

Speaking just for myself, I appreciated Marcella's post. It gave
interesting insight into just how mega-winners tip on their wins.
In
any case, there was no harm that could be possibly be cited.

Wasn't it in response to Brian's post saying the Megabucks winners
never
tipped anything there? She perhaps was explaining? Sheesh,
people, lighten
up!

It has always been my understanding that casino hosts can never
accept a cash gratuity no matter what. A personal gift or something
like a gift certificate to a restaurant is I believe acceptable.
