As to the taxi drivers, assuming they don;t rip you off by taking the
airport tunnel, they get a flag drop of $3.30 which keeps going up, never down,
and being that th e cost of gas in reality affects less than 1/5 of the fare, I
wonder about tipping them very much on the rare time I might use them.

Also, are they reporting these tips as income as they should.

Why should this be any of business of yours or mine?
The $3.30 flag drop is the industry standard for licensed cabs in Las Vegas.
If you don't like it there are several other options. You can take the bus,
walk, hitchhike, call a friend. If you gamble enough, you can have the casino
pick you up. Not ALL cab drivers are crooks, thieves or rip off artists.

It is our business -we are not here to pay there taxes -if they are dishonest they should be prosecuted whether it is longhauling passengers or cheating on taxes. BTW a documented study several years ago found over 60% OF TAXIS LONGHAULING passengers through the airport tunnel

Indeed. And we are all compelled to report every nickel
w2g or not.

Agreed, I have found that by reporting all income and deductions against it,working with my accountant, careful scheduled use of IRA's 401K's, and other permitted tax lessening strategies, that taxes can be minimized while being properly reported.
