Hi everyone ,
Just curious how everyone feels about tipping the cocktail
waitress. My wife and I usally tip .50 a drink for a normal drink,
vodka tonic , beer , coffee. When there are four of us we tip $2.00 for
regular drinks , however for martinis and exotic drinks we throw in an
extra $ 1.00 . Of course if the service is above average we give an
extra couple of dollars like every other round. Of course the opposite
applies if we have to wait a half an hour for two drinks. Always have
no problems in Atlantic City , can always get a drink. Of course we
don't have to worry about tipping at the CT Indian Casinos because you
can never find a waitress or its not her section , or by the time she
does get back you are on another machine or broke and driving home. We
are not high rollers , just average 25/50 cent VP players. Just a
thought on this snowy blizzard night in CT. WE wish our whole state
would go smoke free !!! LOL Anyone have any rules for tipping ??

Tipping the waitress ............
I am a 25c/50c/rarely $1 player. I tip $1 a drink. These gals (and guys) need to make a living too. I have raised my buffet tip to $1.50-$2.00 as well, for the same reason.. the cost of living is going up, folks.

For me, it's a standard $1 per drink. I only drink beer so I don't
have to worry about tipping extras for exotic drinks.
Do the cocktail servers share tips with the bartenders? If they didn't
and I drank exotic drinks, I'd be more inclined to track down the
bartender and tip him/her separately.
$1 per drink regardless of type. Heather and I feel it sort of
averages out over time when I may have a mixed drink but she may
have a soda.
I worked as a barback at Fremont for a while and had to fill in for
the cocktail waitress a couple of times. In their defence, they
have a tough job. I hate to say but players are not always the
nicest people. Not us here of course!
Many players demand the
waitress show up instantly when the player sits down. That is not
gonna happen. The way it works is the waitress makes her way
through her section asking for orders and goes back to the service
bar where often the bartender will make the drinks and the waitress
will prepare the non alcohol drinks. So yes, they tip out the
bartender.
Cocktail waitress are very competative about "their" sections. If
one takes an order from another's section it is the same as stealing
in the waitress' eyes.
Keep in mind, you are getting the drinks for free. The waitress'
remember the tippers and the "stiffs".
(I am glad I re-read this before I posted...I accidentally
typed '$10' per drink...)
So are casino profits available to pay them going up

No matter what level I'm playing (usually $1.25 to $15.00), I tip $2.00
a drink which would be Bud, diet Pepsi, or coffee. It was $1.00 but I
raised it a year ago. As one member mentioned, these folks need to make
a living, I can well afford the tip, and I usually get good service,
especially at the smaller Casinos we have here in Colorado. The drink is
the same no matter what level you play.
Think about it - how silly is it to throw money into the slots like
there is no tomorrow and then skimp on a tip for a free drink.
wink

For basic service, I tip a buck a drink, especially for coffee and tea
because these are prepared by the cocktail server and not the
bartender - actually more trouble for her.
For anything more than basic slow service I make it $2.
For exceptional service, or doing something above and beyond I'll tip
more. Sometimes $5 or $6. For example, I like my wine.
In some
casinos the "good stuff" is only available at one or two bars. If my
waitress is working from a different bar, but will run over and get me
a Pinot Noir or a special Cab from another bar, I'll give her $6.
