Hi everyone,
Just a little info on cocktail waitresses. My brother is a food
and beverage manager for Bally's/ Harrahs in Atlantic City . The
waitresses there are union and their work schedule is 5 days a week and
6 hour shifts. They get overtime by seniority , meaning that if a girl
calls out sick they ask the senior waitress on the list and if she says
no they go to number two , etc. IF all waitresses say no , the last one
on the list has to stay .IF another one calls out they go back to
number one again. They do not pool their tips and they in return tip
the bartender and the barback , usually 10%. He says it is like any
other profession , the girls who hustle , smile , great personality ,
etc can make $ 100,000.00 year. The lowest end of that is usually $
50,000.00 year , if they are under that then they are not serving the
customers . low end tips for a night , depending on your section can be
about $ 200.00. High end on promotion nights in the summer can be $
500.00/ night. He does tell me some funny stories about customers in
the buffett who put shrimp in their pockets and steak down their
pants !!
They make believe they are sick so they can sit there for hours . They
tell him they just lost $20,000.00 today and they should go to the
front of the line and get free food. He runs their card and finds out
they lost $12.00 bucks and only been in the casino an hour. Or that
they are the president of Bally's ( Ken Condon) cousin. One woman had a
plastic bag inside her pocketbook and was loading it with shrimp. That
is one reason why the bathroom is downstairs out of the buffett.
Anyway got a little off track , but IF I was 20 again and had the legs
for it I'd start serving drinks , but my wife says don't get any ideas
shes too old !!!!!!!!!!
